The Underdark Bug

Post by Timepirate »

Has anyone else experianced problems with the Drow missions not starting? Its happened to me twice now and as a result i have to go on a Drow killing spree, which while fun is not as good as doing their missions first...then killing them.
Its happen once when i was a sorcerer when the beholder mission didnt start and again now that I'm a monk with the mind flayer mission not starting up...i can see son-of-a-drow I'm supposed to meet sitting in the entrance to he city but he just tells me he's too busy or somesuch to talk...

Quite, yes. The 'character appears to be busy' problem is a very, very common bug. The Official Patch, both SoA and ToB can be found through these links:
http://modlist.pocketplane.net/index.php?ax=list&cat_id=6

The Baldurdash fixpack, although not official, can be found here: http://www.baldurdash.org/

I advice you to install this as well, because it solves quite a few bugs which the offfical fixpack doesn't.

Hope that helps. If it doesn't, you know where to come back. :)

Ah cheers! that 'X appears busy' was sorely trying my patience...had to wipe out the walkeens promenade after Ribald wouldn't talk to me  .

Problem is patches arent retrospective are they? its not gunna sort my save game...is it?

I think it does, although you never know until you try. :D

It did for me once before, when I did a complete reinstall and forgot the patches. I don't know if it always works in retrospect, but it is definitely worth giving a shot before starting a brand new game.

Aww man I would rather snap the CD in half than do Irenicus' dungeon again...I can do it with my screen turned off! But I will give it a try...after watching Jack Dee...

If Chateau Irenicus is the major stumbling block to your starting a fresh game, you could download the "Dungeon be Gone Mod." It introduces an NPC into the room you find yourself in when the game starts. He sweeps up you and the gang and teleports you to just near the exit, complete with the few valuable items you find down there.

You might want to check the sticky threads, too, where we have a lot of links to a variety of mods.

With that dungeon be gone thing, does give you the experience too? (supose thats asking a bit much...)

ah and ive just realised that I may have crossed a few wires...it doesn't say 'X appears busy' when i talk to the guy.
SPOILER hes already told me to meet him at the Mind Flayer dungeon to ambush them but hes not there! He's still at the entrance to the city, as if he tried to leave and didnt quite make it... SPOILER

Just try the patches first. Helping you if you don't have anything that squashes the bugs in the first place, is like swimming against the tide.
