Post by The Chosen One »

Look people I need help:
Me and some friends of mine have dicided to play D&D live...but the problem is that none of us have ever done this before!
So we, atleast I, need a D&D manual with all rules of the gameplay and of the creation of the character...live

It would be VERY nice of you to give me some links.

Thankfull for answer, Chosen

Yeah. The latest ruleset. 3.5
And it has a die roller program in there as well.

And shouldn't this topic be in the D&D forum?

Umm, first off, the SRD's are 100% illegal.

Secondly, I'd just go and buy them. They really aren't that expensive if you get them off of Amazon or somewhere similar. I got a brand new players handbook from Amazon for 19.77 and the Special edition one for 51.89.

So, yeah, other than that, I can't help you. My site has discussions of rules, options, supplemental rules, and other things like that so, feel free, but even I'm hesitant to post just a small section of "actual" gaming rules as my last forum was deleted because of such a thing.

(Note, yes my site does indeed have references to D20 SRD all around, however, my site doesn't have the reputation of Gamebanshee.)

the D20 SRD is not illegal.
This is taken from Wizards own site:
This site maintains the most current versions of the the Open Gaming License, d20 System Reference Document, the Modern System Reference Document, the Arcana System Reference Document, the d20 System Trademark License, the Open Gaming License, and the d20 System Trademark Guide. It also provides answers to frequently asked questions about them (FAQs).

The d20 System is the game engine used in Wizards of the Coast's hobby gaming roleplaying games. The d20 System was used as the root of the System Reference Document (SRD), an abstract version of the rules and nonrule content of the various d20 System roleplaying games from Wizards.
And behold, they publish it themselves: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=d20/article/srd35

and lastly (also from WIzards site)
The System Reference Document is a comprehensive toolbox consisting of rules, races, classes, feats, skills, various systems, spells, magic items, and monsters compatible with the d20 System version of Dungeons & Dragons and various other roleplaying games from Wizards of the Coast. You may consider this material Open Game Content under the Open Game License, and may use, modify, and distribute it.
So there is absolutly nothing illegal about the D20 SRD as far as I can see.

That's good, I didn't really want to be doing anything illegal...plus, it's a good reference website.

Really? Meh, always been told that it was by many other people.

Well, that actually proves it, so I guess I really don't have anything to worry over.

First off, I'd never be an elven ranger if my life depended on it. I think that the -2 constitution is really harsh on the "ranger" aspects. I mean, -survival-.

Now, a race (other than human) that would work, Halflings. They always make good rogues/rangers. Half orcs work pretty good, but not so much full orcs with the -2 wisdom and the daylight sensitivity.

so, again that's, Human, Halfling, Orc, Half-orc. In that order of Best to Worst, those would work for basic races.

@ Siberys:
Why not ranger by the way? Would you suggest a better class then? :)

I don't have a problem with ranger specifically. I never said that. I do have a problem with an -Elven- ranger, meaning I hate the way elves are done. Ranger is actually a pretty badass class if you look into it.

Hi again folks, now another problem has shown up:
Our 'party' will play live...and someone I know quite well said to me that you don't need to follow any particular rules when you are playing live. Youact like in theater...
But...there MUST be atleast some basic rules that keeps the live in order!
Do you know any?

Thankful for answer, Chosen
