I'm playing as a Nosferatu. I have obfuscate lvl 5... I go in Tawni's apartment, plant the cameras, contact Imalia with the laptop in Tawni's bedroom, and then leave just like I'm supposed to.
When I get to Imalia, she pitches a fit about how I was seen and blah blah blah. I mean what the hell? I was never seen
I've tried it a few times, and I always get the same pissed-off response from Imalia. What's up with that?
(And come to think of it, how are you supposed to do that quest WITHOUT obfuscate? )
It's a bugged quest. Make sure you've got the official patch installed. The unofficial patch 1.7 also addresses this issue, it may be worth your time.
If that still doesn't fix your problem, there are about 45 threads on this subject. Do a search for "imalia" "model citzen" etc., and you'll find a lot of tips.
Chances are you were spotted somehow. They just don't aggro easily.
My character is a ventrue and I have the sneaking level of 3. I go there and set up the cameras and get the email from Imalia mentioning that everything was done and then exit the apartment without being seen but when I go to Imalia I get the same treatment!

When it comes to this mission, take NOTHING for granted.
Upon entering the apartment, be in crouch/stealth mode and STAY THAT WAY through the entire mission until you exit the building. Twani and her hubby seem to have extra sensitive ears when it comes to your vampire running around downstairs.
Note:If at ANY TIME, does Twani or her boyfriend hesitate and say "Who's there?", you have been detected, you've failed the mission, and you should restart.
Nosferatus and Malks, stay in at least Level 2 Obfuscate during the mission and you shouldn't have a problem.
Ventrue, I passed this mission with a decent sneak rating and useing Trance when I needed to.
Remember, stay in crouch even upon entering the building and STAY THAT WAY.
It is also highly imperative that you select your moments for moving very carefully. If you run for the bedroom at the same time Imalia is turning around in the kitchen, you're done. It doesn't take much. Try to make certain that all eyes are averted whenever you move and for the full duration of the move. Close only counts in horse-shoes and hand-grenades. It's not uncommon for me to spend five minutes of real time crouched behind the couch or the changing-screen waiting for the moment to move, but I've only ever been caught once. I typically play Tremere.

on the contrary i had no trouble with this quest at all, in fact i was a toreador with like, bad stealth skills, it's just all timing and stuff, and also running like crap, but i also got the "who's there" and was still able to complete the quest.

I played as gangrel with level 10 sneak - I waited until after the Fu Labs mission and had 40 odd points to use AND the fae charm from Isaac, so I was dexed out. the detect meter didn't rise above 0 the whole time and I sneaked past Tawni with her looking straight through me. I didn't bump into anybody and boyfriend stayed on the couch the whole time. I thought that I'd probably failed the mission on a bug, but got to Imalia and she was chuffed to bits with my work.
as the meter didn't rise above 0 - that sounds like a bug too - a nicer one, but still, surely I should at least have had a chance of being spotted by those paranoid peeps?
