Pestilence Quest

Post by Jewel »

I'm playing a not-particularly-combat-capable Toreador and have reached the Brother Kanker plaguebearer in the Downtown Sewers. And each time I try, I get my ass handed to me.

I have discovered the hanging chains but can't seem to do anything with them (even though the 'use' hand appears). And while I'm messing about with them, I'm getting killed.

Any tips?

The chains are useless. Gonna have to fight him. I like to shoot him a couple times long range, then switch to melee. He moves fast so watch out.

Best policy for Brother Kanker:
1) Move to just outside the gate that closes behind you.
2) Using the .38, aim at chest level on the platform at the other end of the room, top dead center.
3) Fire a couple of rounds. That should hit him and make him show up.
4) Keep firing at him while he advances to your location.
5) Run to the left and jump onto the platform of junk.
6) Equip your shotgun and blow BK to ashes. He can't attack you while you are on the platform.

In my experience, Brother Kanker is the most difficult of the Plaguebearers.

Keep in mind that defeating the "Brotherhood of the Ninth Gate" is a sidequest. I recommend that if BK is too much for you to handle at this point in the game, continue on with the other Downtown sidequests and the LaCroix's mainquests to gain experience. Then, beef up your character's strength and stamina.

Personally, I prefer melee over firearms. Guns are not accurate and reloading is a constant annoyance. Play to your character's strengths, use Bloodbuff, and make sure to at least have a couple bloodpacks ready for quick healing.
Useing Potence, Fortitude or Presence will also help.

Ooh, I was having trouble finishing that as a Toreador myself. But with Celerity 4 and an Anaconda with plenty of ammo that I picked up at the supermarket in Hollywood, I was able to finish it in a couple of tries. Also, strafing helps avoid his lunging attacks.

I usually just run backwards in a circle and pelt away at him with a shotgun. Using this method, you'll almost always be just out of his reach when he attacks you - unless you run into a wall or pillar and get stuck.

This stragety was GREAT ! I killed him without even getting a scratch !
