WHY wont Scorch spawn ? plz help

ok just started the game, and when i run down to the gate of the castle, Scorch is supposed to spawn to let me in the secret way, he did the very first time i played the game, but i didnt like the char i had, logged off the game came bk later to make a new guy and did just as i had done the first time now Scroch isnt showing up.....what do i do ! ?

What? No Scorch?

I started the game 3 times and I never had this problem. Try this:
1) First explore the little valley you're in to collect the treasure from the nearby chest
2) You'll end up killing some random encounters so take thier stuff (it may be better than yours and you can always sell it for ca$h)
3) Go to the gate and get turned away
4) Head around the castle to the left (east)
If Scorch never arrives it's no big deal, just head down into the sewers without getting ambushed.

To prevent any other future bugs use the downloads link on this site to upgrade to V1.3. If you have problems with the patch install then search this forum for guidance as it's been well covered.

i did the exploreing bit, and he still never showed :/
went to the gate got turned away again (of course)
went to the east to the sewer gate, but its closed off

and i have the patch already, is there anything else maybe ?

Hmmm...

At this point I'd call it a wash and start over. Maybe Scorch is stuck in the wall or something. You'll lose nothing except a little time. Besides, making characters is part of the fun (even if you can't use all the color and hair options).

yeah i just remade a char to try again, and still nada, is there a time he comes out, or is there a way for me to "ghost" through the gate, this is pretty upsetting, buy a new game and it doesnt want to work fo rme anymore

Never heard of this bug.
1) Did you talk to the messenger by the campfire first? That way you get the letter to visit the Seer.

sure did, talked to him about all that he offered, ran around killed some stuff got the 3 chests that i know of, come bk go to the gate get turned away, no schorch, go east sewer gate is closed, go bk get turned away, wait awhile still no scorch...kill stuff...go bk talk to messenger again, go to gate get turned away go east sewer gate still closed, (get mad) save, exit game

Still no Scorch...

This is pretty nuts. It seems like you're missing something simple, but I can't put my finger on it.
You exhausted the entire dialogue tree with the messenger?
You have the letter from the Seer in your inventory?
I don't know of any specific 'time of day' requirement for Scorch to 'wake up' and I doubt there is one.
If you met the above requirements and you're still having problems I can only think of a re-install to possibly fix your bug.
One last thing: make sure you're starting a new, single player game. Make a new character. Don't reload the corrupt saved game.
