I can't seem to get the note to give King Dunatrim implicating Gregor in stolen axe of the stone to even trigger quest. Gregor won't accept the ale from Rimmer. The drunken lout just asks me if I want to drink with him etc. I have belt, shield, heart, but need breatplate. I'm stumped. Thanks for help.

Dwarven mines

You'll have to make the dwarven mines completely. After making Moriendor leave the area you'll have to pick up the stolen sword of the dwarven village and then make it to the room most to the north and there you'll find a note proving that it was Gregor who was responsible for the theft. Only then the dwarven king will ask you to go to see a well known merchand in Verdistis (it's Sir Patrick) and ask him to give you the breastplate. He'll first ask you to do sth for him. Hopefully you'll find out yourself how to handle those quests.

He means, "make the dwarven mines completely safe." You have to kill every enemy in those mines, and grab the note.
