Here are song lyrics for Magrus, whatever he's doing.

311: Amber

Brainstorm
take me away from the norm
I got to tell you something
this phenomenon
I had to put it in a song
and it goes like

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
you ought to know what brings me here
you glide through my head blind to fear
and I know why
whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally

You live too far away
your voice rings like a bell anyway
don't give up your independence
unless it feels so right
nothing good comes easily
sometimes you gotta fight

Whoa, amber is the color of your energy
whoa, shades of gold displayed naturally
launched a thousand ships in my heart, so easy
still it's fine from afar, and you know that
whoa, brainstorm take me away from the norm
whoa, I got to tell you something

GB is laggy for me too and I'm starting to feel a little worried about magrus. Could mean I just need more sleep and/or booze...

OS does not live near magrus, she lives here in Calgary, along with me. But I think she has his phone number.

I already sent him an email via his yahoo account, anyways, and have yet to recieve a responce.

I have checked the New Yourk times, but I havent seen anything about a death of a man in his twenties yet. I am going to go on and check all the way back to the fifth, perhaps a little before, just to be sure... dates can sometimes go wonky on sites.

The lagging in GB may have something to do with the new skin they are installing. :)

Anyways, I don't have Magrus IP address, but I may go on a search to see if I can find it...

EDIT- Got it.

Good idea Hill regarding your search through the NYT....
It would be easy enough to obtain Mag's IP.... a SYM mod, Buck or a Supermod should be able to see it displayed beneath his name. One of them (with Buck's permission clearly) might be willing to let one of us know what it is. After that... I know of a site where you can enter an IP address and it often shows the ISP and sometimes further details. I used it a few times when I modded at a different site; it was quite helpful on occasion.

EDIT:
OKay, disregard the above then. Just make sure it is the IP of his most recent post....
though here is the site for tracing an IP: http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html

I found two of his posts... both have different ISPs and service providers. the latest two I checked both had consistent IP addresses, though. He wasn't a major poster in RPG Discussion and Non-RPG Discussion.

I hope I am not doing anything wrong...

If his IPs and ISPs are different... maybe pursue all of them???

I don't think we are doing anything wrong... It's not as though anyone here wants to stalk him, we are simply concerned. And, what else do you do in an Internet Community when somebody vanishes?

Besides... The ISP providers are unlikely to release personal details. At best, they will try to contact him on our behalf, and hopefully.. give us some indication of what they discover...

Stop worrying; y'all think Magrus has left us for that big, fat, fully-stocked cyber bar in the sky? He's fine. He's probably just distracted with a new g/f or something.

Dragon Wench, your site says 'results from tracking IP' but nothing actually pops up. Do you have to wait a while, or something along those lines?

I think Maggie worked at a McDonalds.

@ Chim: We are worried because he has a medical condition.

Hmm.... It always worked fine for me....
Do you have popups enabled?

Another possibility might be to post a thread in the mod forum... Somebody there might have some suggestions, since they sometimes have to deal with problem posters and their IPs....

I'm pretty sure he said he worked at a McDonald's too. I don't know where he lived but I didn't think it was in a city. Is the state of New York more rural ?

New york state is rural, with one city of over like, 10 million people. Mag lives in that city. So there would probably be over a hundred mcdonalds :( . Hopefully either he (being Magrus) shows up or the big mod man (Hill) comes up with the goods.

I have been keeping up with the thread, hill; I'm just suggesting that it does no good to worry yourself into a tizzy until you know what's up. He's probably having a threeway now: him, his g/f, and Johnny Walker Red.

I'm pretty sure that is all true...

But... phoning up every McDonald's in rural New York State..... That would be the proverbial needle and haystack...
And, unfortunately, McD's is franchised, so it is unlikely they have some kind of centralised data base for employees....

I just entered his real name into that look up link.
There are two entries under that name in Virginia (it is "VA" right?)

None in New York...

It is more likely he was unlisted. I just ran this IP through another site and barely anything popped up.

I mean, my work IP shows up as another IP address for security while surfing the web, but thats just for location. The IP address is the computer, and you can see when I am online. It just varies the location a bit. So, pretty much, everything else is the same... it even shows the Lab's name.

Handy little gadget.
