Underdark Trapped Souls area? possible spoiler

OK, so don't read this if you don't wanna know anything about the underdark area:

Anyways can someone please tell me if there is some way to snap that one gibbering fool out of his spell? You know the one that attacks you after you help him and all he says is "ummmm..........". At any rate he must be under the influence of a feeblemind spell or something, unfortunately I can't find a way to snap him out of it. I mean it's pretty useless to put effort into 3 dialogue screens for a guy that says " umm.............." and than kills you. Anyone know if this guy can be helped, I think his name is Raevelin Strathi. BTW it says in all the walkthroughs I have read that he is worth 974 xp, but when i killed him i got 20000xp.

As far as I know he's a lost cause. I think he always attacks no matter what.Although if you're *really lucky* you get a stupid bug in the game. Then when you kill him, he remains a little chunk of flesh that casts spells at you continously even though he's dead.

if i remember correctly, he casts simulacrum during the battle. killing him gives you 20000xp, killing his duplicate gives you 974xp.
