guardians of the forest

well no one has responded to my question about the guardians of the forest. i have the totem of the tree but they won,t let me pass they just try to kill me. i have tried reloading and trying again and again but always the same thing. i have seen newer posts answered so why not mine??? i guess being and old codger puts your questions on the back burner

I think the guardians only try to kill you if you killed the guy who had the totem. But regardless, it sounds like you'll have to kill the guardians to get past.

Being close to a mid-life gamer I certainly don't hold your age against you. I've just never heard of this problem before. It's probably like swcarter posted if you killed the totem guy. Also if you kill a creature in front of them that seems to set them off. If you kill them all it's worth about 1 million exp but it is a tough fight. If things get bad run back to the campfire to the west to heal then when you approach they'll be spread out enough to kill them in groups of 2 or 3 or just run around them and continue on. thanks carter and ferncliff for the response. i think cw is right i did kill the guy who gave me the totem. i will try ferncliff,s solution of running around them. i tried hurling fireballs at them but it doesn,t seem to damage them much. thanks again for the replies.

Two notes:

1. Just in case, note that to use the totem of the trees, you need the dialog box which says a guardians name -- wuvenfyr, or some such -- before they will respond. If the the dialog box says 'guardian o' the forest' you get no response, and have to move to another tree.

2. You can kill them easily by leading them to Grymlok's tower and running up to the top. Jump on the balcony, and move until you can hit one with arrows. Be sure to keep saved games, because mistakes are easy, but it's not that hard to run back up the tower stairs.

This method is tedious but not particularly hard.

The trees hate me too... but I find with a winter weapon, they are short work, but you have to have most of them "behind" the tree you are hacking... otherwise they circle around and "tree-branch" you from all angles...
