Sterwick Campaign: Inter-Character Dialogue (Low Spam)
Sh'rarn was considering leaving by the time he saw her half-stumbling down the stairs. He had been waiting for a couple of hours by now, anyway. Really wanting to see Tway before he left had motivated him to stay in the inn and now the Aasimar was glad for doing so. She seemed happier than he'd ever seen her and when he waved in her direction to show his position, she beamed.
Getting up as she approached, Sh'rarn kissed her lightly on the cheek and pulled out a chair for her, moitioning for her to sit. "I trust you had a good sleep?"
"I wanted to see you before I left for the docks, it's feels bad enough that I have to leave you here, especially with the crowds roaming the streets like packs of wild animals, I, at the least wanted to say farewell".
Leaning over the table they were sitting at, she gave him a short but passionate kiss. "How about that for a farewell?" she said flashing her customary grin.
"A better sending-off I could not hope for, Tway" and he smiled back. Telling Kron of his intentions and getting him to promise to look after Twaynith in his absence he left the inn.
Taking lesser used sidestreets and avoiding notices and small crowds he travelled to the docks. This wasn't the way a Paladin was used to travelling, they stood out, not skulked the shadows like rogues! Still, it was the crowd in the wrong, not him and they were merely misguided. Arriving at the docks he saw the tumultousness of loading and unloading of the docked ships of varying sizes. Some were grand and others were barges, some were so derelict Sh'rarn wondered how they even stayed afloat! Apparently, the longshoremen were alerter than usual, though not as Sh'rarn believed due to their recent activities, but more because of a dwarf who had recently forced passage...to the same destination as his.
Now they were on the lookout for any suspiscious people, not wanting to be caught out again. Fortunately his description didn't feature as prominently as Kron's or Tway's (considering they were seen as the evil ones from birth, that made sense), but it wouldn't hurt to be cautious. Well, they wouldn't be able to afford passage on the more expensive ships so it wasn't worth wasting valuable time inquiring there. Heading to some of the lesser extravagant ships he began to inquire about passage...

Sorry about the lack of tagging, I was doing an assignment... I'm going back and then catching up.
"Shut up and and let us get some sleep!" Kron yelled at the couple next door. Realising it wouldn't work, he got dressed and crept out the window, taking the drop well. He knew that it would eventually happen, he didn't stand a chance from the start, but if they got distracted, then he would remind them.
If there was one thing Kron hated, it was being cooped up. Knowing this would happen, he decided to borrow some face paint from a store for future use. Returning back to inn, he was greeted by silence, thankful, peaceful silence.
--------------------
Venturing down, Kron caught Sh'rarn with a childish grin on his face. "Have a good time last night boy? Because if you didn't, you kept the rest of us up for no reason." Kron decided not to inform him of his own escapades, as it would undoubtedly be argued against. Finally Tway came down, with success written all over her face. With some annoying noises later, Sh'rarn was finally leaving.
"Thought he'd never leave. Now, I will not sit around and play the child all day. With your adventure last night, you might, but I will not. So, are you in?"

A sharp tap on the shoulder Kazar jolted him out of a perfectly satisfying dream, a dream of many riches and no worries.
"Can you please explain to me what you are doing here?" Asked the sailor, his broad features blocking Kazar
"Uh Im awfully sorry sir, I have a ticket." Kazar fumbled around in his backpack, and withdrew the creased yellow piece, The sailor picked up the piece of paper gingerly in one hand, read the name on it and asked.
"what might be your name sir?"
"Kazar, a dwarf" Kazar had regretted this, he had blurted out something he wasn't supposed to, apparently this particular merchant who was unlucky enough to be a victim of Kazar was quite well known, as well as being important in the world of the trader. His ticket carried the traders name on it, but stupidly Kazar had not spotted this.
"Get off!" Yelled the sailor
"All right im moving!" murmured kazar
Kazar slowly moved of the ship, and was met by a city guard.
"up to no good?" Quiried the guard
"no sir!" replied Kazar
"I hope so, we wouldn't want anything particulary, lets say nasty to happen to you?"
"yes sir!"
"move along you annnoying little dwarf!"
Kazar had decided that he will get on that boat, and he would do it in the evening

Going round the myriad ships docked in Baldur's Gate, Sh'rarn received various price quotes from ship crew for passage though relatively few would be sailing in the direction the paladin required. Of course, the main problem would be their lack of gold and the fact that the ship captains required gold to make their voyages profitable, both for themselves and to pay their expenses (such as docking fees). Also, having unpaying travellers would be considered unsavoury and kept off the books, many of the sailors were unwilling to do this and of course Sh'rarn could hardly persuade (nor really wanted) to do otherwise as a lawful entity himself.
However, there were other ways to get passage as he was informed by a shadowy individual standing outside one of the local inns, apparently there were people who could 'sponsor' the journey in exchange for a favour, for some work done. Sh'rarn had his suspisicions of this, but he saw little choice in the matter. First, he would visit the Hierophant, but as far as he knew the Red Knights had little influence over the sea captains or the harbour authority.
He was reluctant to deal with any criminal elements in Baldur's Gate, though perhaps he could do something to make them see the error of their ways and get passage at the same time. He wondered if Kron could help in this, some of the cults practically worshipped the drow and no doubt their recent antics avoiding the mobs would not have escaped the underworld's knowledge
Recording the details given to him by the shadowy man and wondering what the right thing to do was he continued walking on.

Her voice dripping with sarcasm Tway replied to Kron, "No, I think I'd rather look at the roof with a lovestruck expression on my face for a few hours. Then I might make some flower chains and write poetry!" She shook her head slowly, one day the Drow would understand... or so she honestly hoped. "Just because I am quite possibly the most infatuated person in Baldur's Gate doesn't mean I am completely incoherent" She took a sip from the slightly murky, though suprisingly cold water infront of her. "I'm not entirely sure. Whilst sitting here all day and letting Sh'rarn do all teh work turns my stomach, not just as a love-sick fool but as a ranger, I do fear our prescence on the streets would be a detrimend to our cause." Tway might have been completely and utterly in love but she still retained enough sense to know it...

"You think I'm foolish enough not to realise the risk our identity poses? No, whilst you were enjoying your rest, I was out in the night. I acquired some make-up and other gear that should suffiecently hide our identities. So, want to have some good old fun?"

Hoping there was a better way than the one suggested by the mysterious contact, Sh'rarn entered the Shrine of the Red Knight in search of the Hierophant's counsel.
Describing their plight to the Hierophant, "We need to find passage to the island, however we have few gold to pay for passage but with the mobs running around the streets searching anyone they regard suspisicious, it is no longer safe in this city.
None of the captains were willing to take us aboard especially just for the consideration of jobs paying for passage, the only possibility was someone I met in the area who suggested there were people who could help but little more. I don't trust that though".
"Indeed, I wish I could help, the coffers of the Red Knight are low in recent times and there are no ship-captains sympathetic to us. As for the person you met, it is likely that he is a contact of a disreputable organisation in Baldur's Gate. You would be right not to trust them.
However, it may be your only chance to get to Sterenar, so you have lots of thinking to do. Perhaps one of your companions knows more about this and could help you in dealings with them".
Sh'rarn left the Shrine, troubled and decided to return to the Inn, it was probably for the best he returned quickly before the impataient Kron cted rashly.

Tway gave an exhasterated sigh. She honestly questioned how much Kron valued his own life. She'd met a few barbarians in her time, crazy Uthgardt warriors, even they had more respect for their own safety. But against all of her warnings, the Drow seem determined to place himself in danger. What he did was his business. She didn;t want to get caught with a Drow when the mobs started searching people, and she made sure to tell Kron just how she felt. "What you do with yourself is up to you, but heed my advice; do not lay your life in the hands of a bottle of paint and hair dye. You did save my life from the mobs, so I don't exactly want to see you torn to pieces by a rabid mob. I'll not jumo to save you if'n you're caught..."

Kron sighed. Surely the lass would like adventure, rather than waiting for the paladin to return. Very well, he promised the paladin he would watch out for her, which meant no adventure. "Very well, we shall wait for your beloved to return, though he had better not tarry too long."

@dj_venom & Kythras, I'll be around tomorrow, if you two want to continue more of this dialogue...
Dodging curious and suspiscious gazes, Sh'rarn quickly made his way through the now familiar narrow streets of Baldur's Gate. Paladins weren't supposed to arouse these kind of feelings from the general populace, not that it could have been avoided, in this case.
Turning the corner he arrived back at the Inn and looked for his companions. Finding them sitting close to a wall he sauntered over, avoiding the patrons, many of whom had seemed to drunk quite a lot already. He was slightly surprised to see Kron was still around, the drow seemed to have an annoying habit of impatience, no doubt something that drew him to adventuring. Tway was definitely safe though and he was certainly proving more worthy of trust.
Seeing their expectant stares he began to recall what had happened today. "I have both good and bad news". Running a hand through his hair, a unconcious sign of anxiousness he said, "I'll start with the good news. It looks likely we'll be able to gain passage perhaps free of charge. However, it's the way we're going to get that which displeases me. While searching the docks, I came across a shadowy character by the name of Avalon. He knew of the predicament we face and suggested a solution..."
Remembering back....
"You offer a solution, but I do not even know who you are?!" Sh'rarn narrowed his eyes. Recent events had taught him not to be so trustworthy of complete strangers.
"It is true, you know nothing of me, but I can still help you...and your friends."
"What do you know of them?!" A startled Sh'rarn responded.
"A Tiefling and Drow causing uproar on the streets of the city. Who hasn't heard of them yet? However, I know more than most, I'm aware you want to go to Sterenear but cannot afford passage."
"Yes..."
"Then you should listen to my offer, Red Knight. Our requirements are different to those of the ship captains".
The man proceeded to tell Sh'rarn details of the organistaion he worked for, their beliefs and a safe meeting place. Still, Sh'rarn was leery of this. They seemed shady and definitely not working for the interests of Good. Sh'rarn pointed out as much to Avalon.
"Think on our offer and meet us in the Sewer under the Blushing Mermaid tavern in 5 hours. Bring the Drow with you, my friends will be most interested to meet him".
"What about Twaynith?"
"Huh? Oh, the Tiefling. She can do as she wishes, though no doubt she would also be of interest."
Back to present...
"So, what do you two think? I also talked to the Hierophant who couldn't help and saw little choice but to go see this Avalon and his organisation. If we do go, we should be on the lookout for an ambush."
Sh'rarn wondered what their reactions would be...

Kron pondered this change of events. Chances were this group would fear to hurt him, however anything could happen. People were often awed by him so much they decided to subdue him, which caused all sorts of problems. As a general rule, people who singled him out due to his heritage were not to be trusted, and Kron felt the same way about this particular group. Nevertheless, the paladin was correct, this was the only way.
"It seems that you are correct. We need them, but that does not mean we can trust them. They want me, they would be expecting you, but Tway, they don't want her. Perhaps we could take advantage of her. I suggest that we confront them the main way, with me talking, and simply state we left her at the Temple. Meanwhile, I will have already cast a darkness spell on an object for Tway to carry, and she will sneak around and end up behind the group without them knowing. That way if something happens, we will have an advantage. That is of course, if Tway agrees."
Kron knew this was risky, however it was the only way, and it was best for everyone if Tway did this.

"Hmm...that's an interesting plan. How long would the spell last though and it would have to be cast in a naturally dark place so the area affected wouldn't be obvious." Sh'rarn saw flaws in the plan and again was reluctant to be seperated from Tway, but it seemed the best option if Kron could alleviate the concerns he risen.

"Well in my knowledge, the spell lasts for approximately 10 minutes, which is plenty of time for Tway to become settled. Also, the problem about already dark is solved by casting it on an object. You see, you can simply cover the object, and no cloud is made, then when the cover is removed, the cloud appears again." Kron was always amazed how people doubted him, he was after all an experienced sorcerer, well they learn in time.

Sh'rarn nodded. It seemed thought out enough and his specialities were hardly in arcane spells. Tway didn't seem against the plan either, she would certainly be vocal about it if she was. "Very well, we should set off soon and hopefully no-one will challenge us on the way".
The group headed out of the inn and turned to the east, the location of the Blushing Mermaid Tavern. Taking lesser travelled routes they soon found a sewer entrance close to where they needed to be. Sh'rarn stopped Tway and Kron, "We shouldn't take the obvious route down, that might be watched by our potential foes".

Kron reached into his pockets and withdrew a curiosly spherical shaped object. "This is an extremely important object to me, if it is lost, I will be most displeased." Muttering in an arcane language and using various ingredients, a cloud suddenly appeared, which Kron quickly hid with a cloth over the object. "Now take this, and do not get seen." Watching as Tway hurried Kron turned back to Sh'rarn. "We however should take the most obvious route, as we no doubt trust our new associates." With that Kron strode off to the Blushing Mermaid.

An act of faith on the part of Kron? Odd. He rushed to catch up. "Hmm, I never said we should trust them, nor do I expect they trust us. An act of faith on our part would reflect well though".
They approached the tavern and found a prominent entrance and descending the ladders into the dank and gloom...

Kron shook his head, which was heard to see in the gloom. "I was being sarcastic, however acting ignorant never hurt anyone. Now, although I am good at talking to strangers, I do not trust these people and do not wish to be out in front and vunerable. I think it would be best if I stayed back so I could concentrate more on keeping watch, rather than focusing on talking. Are you okay with this idea?"
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.
Sh'rarn nodded. "That may be for the best. At least one of them knows who I am by appearance, anyway."
With Sh'rarn in the lead they walked down the side of the muck-infested sewer. He could hardly see a thing in this darkness. Not that there was much to see or that he wanted to see much of it. Soon enough the passage they walked down entered a hub where several passages converged. A torch was burning on one side of the area. Someone sauntered out of the opposite passage into the slightly better lit sewer hub. He or she was well-cloaked hiding all and any distinctive features.
"Welcome, Sh'rarn, Paladin of the Red Knight. Your companion is also welcome here, he has no need to hide", a feminine voice announced.

Kron chuckled to himself. Why is it that people always ask to see him, afterall, they would look the same if they applied a bottle of black paint to themselves. "Why is it you ask to see me, when you yourself hides away. Perhaps if you were to show yourself, I would be more inclined to show you."

Apparently Kron was set on alienating someone else. On the other hand, it may work in their favour.
A few more people stepped out of the shadows but the cowled woman raised a hand stopping them in their tracks. "You raise a good point Kron" and with that she lifted the cloak off he head, "Are you satisfied now?" she said in a voice that Sh'rarn noted had some melodic qualities.
Still looking at Kron she said, "I take it you are interested in learning more of our offer?"
Sh'rarn was surprised that she addressed Kron even though the offer had been delivered to him, obviously these people had some reverence for Kron, even though this was their first meeting.
