-Me-Magus (conjurer)-most powerful magic user in party
-Jaheira (fighter/druid)-used as front-line fighter to be the one that gets attacked
-Minsc (ranger)-used as fighter to back up Jaheira, but not take hits
-Imoen (thief-mage)-used as main thief, and a mage
-Nalia (thief-mage)-bit more higher level than Imoen, used as a mage
-Aerie (cleric-mage)-used exclusively as a spellcaster, doesn't fight in melee

My mages hardly ever use weapons, as they always have Melf's Minute Meteor's on hand.

I'm a Ranger, and with me for most of the game are...Keldorn, Aerie, Valygar, Nalia, and ...of course Imoen. Imoen's kinda lame, but since I went to all the effort to rescue her....

Postmaster, it depends when you get Imoen. Imoen is better than Nalia if you get her early enough because:
1)She has extra spells like a specialist mage, except she has no limitations
2)Her thieving abilities are high enough to get by on nicely without a true thief (they suck IMO)
3)She isn't annoying like Nalia. She whines a lot, and it isn't cute like it is for Aerie. Her upbringing gives her no reason to whine.

On the other hand, Nalia does have that Signet Ring that really boosts her armor class, and gives a few other cool benefits. But mages don't fight in melee, so it hardly matters. Overall, Imoen is much better than Nalia. But I like them both (and I'm too far in the game to change members), so I keep both in my party.

A paladin protagonist, Jaheira, Airie, Yoshimo, Valygar and Mazzy.

Very melee oriented party but Airie is using the mage/cleric script I downloaded from Grogs World so she's quite the spellslinger. Jaheira is acting very well as the tank for the party thanks to the Iron Skin spell and heavy armour.

What is this script you are referring to? I am not using Aerie, but I am curious....what does it do for her??

PC-Sorcerer (i just love to cast death spell and disintegrate multiple times).
Minsc, Jaheira. (Minsc dual-wield hammer of thunderbolts and flail of ages. Jaheira gets scimitar and the dragon shield)
Yoshimo (the best NPC thief IMO, I use him for backstabs)
Viconia.

I got plenty of parties (at least three active right now, trying to finish the game with the two of them, while the other one is still at chapter 2, doing sidequests).

My best (self made!) party is this one:

Ubik Morbus Gravis (this is me) Sorcerer
Druna Barbarian
Conan Undead Hunter (!)
Zoltan Thief/Mage
Rolando Archer

The 6th place is occupied by the various NPC of the game - currently (I am in Suldanessar or hoever it is called) Imoen, and she sticks to the end of the game.

It is a great party, it has plenty of fire power AND muscle. No cleric or druid available, so I have to do without healing, restoration, insect swarm etc. - no prob. thought, this is a VERY strong party.

Right now I am planning on going through the game with a regular (1 PC - 5 NPC) party, with those NPC I haven't used much in my other game. Right now there are in it:

Ubik Shadowkiller (assasin/fighter)
Korgan
Edwin
Mazzy
Jaheira
Yoshimo

I dumbed Yoshi early previously so I wanna have him in this one... well, at least to the point it is possible to Image

This is a very fighter-oriented party, so I expect a quite hard time later on... but it is challenging

My favourite party consists of:

Me (fighter/mage) true neutral.....(my familiar is a rabbit)....

Jaheira (fighter/druid) true neutral

and that's all there is to it.......me and Jaheira roaming Amn in an effort to keep everything in perfect balance.....(wonder when she'll take me down to Tethir as she promised????).....

alexander (my real name): wizard slayer - i fancied a challenge
jahiera - good for spells and fighting
minsc - excellent fighter
airie - good magic user
yoshimo - great thief - i love the special snares (when they work)
viconia - best cleric, also good at fighting (she's got girdle of giant strength and flail of ages)

i'm a little lacking in the muscle department, so i might change viconia for someone harder, like valygar or keldorn

Me: Female kensai wielding celestial fury, daystar, equalizer, flametongue.
Korgan wielding frostreaver and hammer vs Giantkin.
Anomen with some mace+3.
Viconia with flail of ages.
Jan with this 'n' that.
Imoen.

I have not yet decided whether to get crom faeyr for Korgan. I like the individual smaller items (my kensai uses the belt of strength, Viconia really would be at a loss without the gauntlets of ogre power).

me- fighter
minsc
jaheira
mazzy
imoen
nalia

i never really got the hang of spells much in BG1 as my computer wasn't really up to it and crashed of froze every time things got slightly complex (i.e. every time i used spells in a battle). so this time i'm leaving nothing to chance and kicking ass with four fighters.
