Exp. Cap on Machine of Lum the Mad???

Post by Lasher »

I am one of those dudes that go all the way through watcher's keep in ch. 2. In my experimentation of the delights of L.t.M.'s Machine I have yet to find any cap on the amount of experience you can get. For example, in my current game I am a sorcerer, with (for the first time) a full party (Valygar, Jaheira, Minsc, Mazzy, and Keldorn). I was worried about my sorcerer, because it seemed all he was doing against the demons of the keep was casting resist fear and Haste (lvl. 14). I decided to spend a half an hour beefing him up. In previous games, I got about 0.8 million exp. before my lust was satisfied. However un-rpg-like and cheesy it really is, this time I put over 2.1 million into my sorcerer and .6 million into jaheira (multi-classed *****...) before I hated myself enough to move on. Any degradation, comments, and especialy pleas for my secrets ( sorcerers aren't magicians, right?) would be immensely appreciated.

If I were you, you might want to edit the ***** part to something more approiate... (Watch out, the moderators give you one warning) :eek: You should look in the rules to see what is not allowed when it comes to cussing on the board.

To answer your question, I have never been farther than W.K. lvl 1, so I cannot help you there at all.

@Berethor--
At the final save??? I disagree- doing so would take out most of the challenge, even on the impossible setting. Oh, and maybe tactics mods would do, but i'm afraid i've never used a single mod, so I'm quite in the dark there....

Spam removed. This thread seems to be asking whether there's an experience cap on the Machine of Lum the Mad. Or maybe I'm wrong. If it's actually just a catch-all for general chatting about BG2, If the latter, I'll close it, so please inform.

Cool. Let's keep it to that, then. I don't know of any such experience cap, except for those imposed by the game on each profession.

You can get experience from the machine of lum the mad? Does it conjure creatures, or does it actually grant xp? And to the party, or just one character (the one pushing and puling the squares etc.)?

When you come upon a "correct" combination (trust me it's random... I usually just push 1-1-1, 7-7-7, etc.), The one pushing the buttons gets 100 Thousand Exp. points, flat out. For me, it happened about once every 5-10 times.

I do the same in Watchers keep, but I just rest until random encounters appear. If you dont it is not possible to reach XP cap.(with 6 in your crew)
Jaheira's mouth is an open wound in her head...........I would plug it had i the power!
