water jump and stone guardians

Post by thoon »

Just went through the shadow ruins, up to Nauselom. This time I was interested to get to the water jump, considering all the talk about it.

I went over the first try. I replayed six or eight times, and went over on about half the tries. This shows that it's not that bad once you get the method. If I can do it, anybody can.
Spoiler
I also have to modify what I said earlier about the chess puzzle. The pieces will start the fight if you step on their color, and they can reach you in a straight line or along a diagonal, BUT they will not go backwards, so if you get behind a piece, he will not attack you.
Spoiler
I also killed all the stone guardians in the wind room. Total time about 30 minutes, netting about two million points. I pumped a lot of arrows, but the key is to use the sword of stone and jump straight into them from a center column. You can get in from zero to twenty whacks before you get pushed off -- then run through the shadow gate and do it again. The sword of stone takes off huge numbers of points, often well over 50 per whack.

I guess I too will do the water jump for anyone who wants to send me a saved game. Just send me a private message. But you can do it. I guarantee it.

Sword of stone tip

thoon,
I got the sword of stone from the Elemental Evil in the Dreadoth temple. It says 'protection vs stone', but doesn't say anything speacial about extra damage. Is this the same sword you killed the stone guardians with?

You will get many of the swords of stone inside the Shadow ruins. They are 'pro stone 50%' or some such. But as I said, we're making too big a deal of the Shadow ruins. Don't worry about it (although I do want to hear).
