*~* SPOILER *~* : Caine !!!
*~* SPOILER *~* : Caine !!!
After reading many arguments regarding whether Caine exists in this game or not, I still couldnt be sure if he really was in the game. But today I came across a great evidence that he really IS in the game! I got this evidence from the IMDB site and here is the list of the cast who where behind the voices :
Cast overview, first billed only:
Andy Milder .... Prince Sebastian LaCroix (voice)
John Di Maggio .... Smiling Jack (voice)
Edita Brychta .... Ming-Xiao (voice)
Armando Valdés .... Nines Rodriguez (voice)
Michael Gough .... Beckett/Gimble (voice)
Jim Ward .... Regent/Isaac/Bach (voice)
Grey DeLisle .... Jeanette/Therese/Tourette (voice)
André Sogliuzzo .... Mercurio/Caine/Bruno/Victor/Zhao (voice)
Dee Bradley Baker .... Bertram Tung (voice)
Courtenay Taylor .... Heather/Damsel/Rosa/Doris (voice)
Phil LaMarr .... Skelter/Fat Larry/Dennis/Malcolm (voice)
Kathryn Cressida .... Venus/Misti/Hostess (voice)
Neil Ross .... Gary/Male Sire (voice)
Nika Futterman .... V.V./Female Sire (voice) (as Nikka Futterman)
J. Grant Albrecht .... Johansen/Kilpatrick/Grout/Bishop Vick/Dema (voice)
And as you see there is a Caine character in the list which I marked with red.
However as to who he is, thought I really dont like it, I am quite sure he is the cab driver, because of what Rosa (the fortuneteller woman at Santa Monica beach) says:
"Is that the father behind him?"
him = could be Jack (regarding the ending of the game)
and there was only the cab driver standing behind him !
But it is kind of unrealistic to think that Caine has been driving you around all the way ... Hasnt he got better thins to do !?

Probably he hasn't been driving you around during the game.
The voice files for the cabby (who drives you during the game) and for the Caine (?) character are in different folders, and the voice/accent is slightly different. Which leads me to the conclusion that the makers intended only the cabby at the end to be Caine (or at least suggest he might be Caine). They look the same, but then again, so do a lot of people in the streets.
And now sssh, we might get Pennypincher utterly depressed with this discussion.

I think that God in creating man somewhat overestimated his ability.

I had another look at that site but couldnt find anyone character known as the "cabby", or the "taxi driver" or anything similar for that matter ... Considering the fact that they have even given the cast of the voices for the characters such as the "Nurse" or the "TV reporter" , I think if the cab driver was someone else than Caine, then they would have written his character too ! He has at least more role than the TV reporter .
Here is the link if you want to take a closer look :
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0438550/
and click on "More" under the "Cast" to see the entire cast.
The thing is that Caine being a cabby, or even only being the last cabby in the game is a little ridiculous ! And seriously, this Smiling Jack is rather too smart I think , being able to set this all up!
What can I say, I always thought the Cabbi was Caine. And who knows, if the cabbie looks the same and the one previous, then perhaps he IS the same cabbie but dominated. Great find Lunaida!
Thanks

Whether the cabby has better things to do or not, I think the ideal that he has kind of been "observing" and watching how his children play their games is kind of a unique twist.
Plus:
If you cast Auspex, you will see a purple aura, so there is definitely a Kindred before you.

I suppose it would explain how he has time to wait on you hand in foot the whole time, as a dude who's be two millenia or so old would probably have a lot of extra time on his hands...

The name of the folder is irrelevant, it's just a label used by the programmers, there is no Tourette character either. From what I've read about it, Caine seems an unlikely character to make his appearance.
Where did IMDB get the information from? For all you know they've looked at folder names, just like the same as anyone here.

According to the Jewish Calendar (which is supposed to date from Creation), He would be some 5,600 years old (approximated from the last time I actually checked it, about ten years ago).

Tourette is, I assume, Jeanette and Therese put together , when you convince them to live together...
And IMDB is a huge site with accurate information, not only on games but also on movies and such. I dont think they would write something without researching about it first.

But it's not a story character, just a convenient tag for the programmers to use for a the engine object that the PC interacts with. Using another gameobject would be far less error prone then tinkering around with either the Jeanette or Therese objects during and after that final confrontation.Lunaida wrote:Tourette is, I assume, Jeanette and Therese put together , when you convince them to live together...
Anyone can make a mistake, and I doubt they put as much time in their research of VtMB as some that post on this site have put in the WW background. I am sure their doing their best, but we don't know how or where their information came from, and how they interpreted it.And IMDB is a huge site with accurate information, not only on games but also on movies and such. If it helps, from a logical, story line, white wolf game point of view, the idea that the cabbie is Caine is utterly laughable. In fact, it's down right insulting to anyone whos put time and effort into playing and understanding the V:TM game in general, as the concept that the oldest living vampire, father of the dammed, the original sinner himself would:
A) Give a rats behind if or not you get blown up, or who you chose to side with.
B) Know or want to know how to drive.
C) Even notice a neonate spec of duts as his understanding of the infinte distracts him from all but the most powerful things in the world, blinding him to the beauty of life but engulfing him in the majesty of creation.
Is really just against everything White Wolf have already said about vampires, elder vampires, methusala vampires and so-on and so forth.
But, as with books, movies and games adapted from other media, they are allowed to take libertys, meaning if they want their cabbie to be caine, they are allowed to have their cabbie be the father of Murder... Hey, why not? Spose the dude might get bored.
Either way, thats just to clear things up for you.

With all due respect his possible (emphasis on "possible") inclusion in the game is obviously just some sort of bizarre Easter Egg the developers included, more to give conspiracy theorists like ourselves (or just flat out people with too much time on their hands) a workout. It's also laughable that Black Isle inserted the Forgotten Realms' most famous figure Elminster in BGII SOA with some letters in his name switched around, but I hardly view it as an insult to the Forgotten Realms world, likewise with this discussion.

Ack fair enough, never actually seen the Jewish Calendar myself but thanks for correcting me
