Talk about a pain! I fought my way down to the Unholy Hooyah in the Vale of Ruin and put the blood on the pedestal, but then while I waited for the messenger to arrive I got totally sacked! I encountered a Twisted Sylph, chunnelers, wolves, bladewitches, spiders, and to top it off: a fire drake! Let the fighting begin! Meanwhile the messenger arrived, took the blood, and flew away. I thought that I could catch up with her, but that didn't work. Fortunately I followed the sage advice in this forum and I'd saved prior to placing the blood so it was a simple matter to re-load. I got sacked again, but this time I killed everything before placing the blood.
Lessons I learned: 1) gas mask rules against the twisted sylphs and 2) killing drakes DOES take about 5 minutes of steady arrows.

Sounds like you are having the same experience I had the first time through. except I had hordes of Grim supersoldiers instead of chunnelers and drakes. This time through, the place is practically empty.
If I may ask, what classes are you playing, to get such a horde of spawning characters?
Also, if you're still there, maybe you could check something if you're in the mood. My first time through, in one of the little valleys opposite where the moon bridge valley comes out, there was a place which was marked on the automap with one of those big dots, this one greenish.
When I went there the first time, there was a grove with a bunch of trees walking around. This time, there was nothing. I feel sure there was something going on there, and I would love to know what.

thoon: I'll check it out
This is my first time through. I'm playing a mage/fighter/battlemage/marauder/Deathlord. I like the dual wielding and didn't learn until too late that the medium dual wield was flawed. I still like the 'Inflict Wounds' and all the armor/weapon choices coupled with the skilled spell casting.
I'm currently clearing out Dreadoth Temple (with authority). After I collect the relic I'll skip on down to the valley you're talking about and see what I see.
I'm going to follow the lead of ferncliff and collect the relics in the order of: dreadoth, tomb, shadow. I don't want to run the risk of Nausleum stopping the show.
Has anyone ever had a 'Giant Serpent' randomly spawn in the Vale of Ruin? It looks like the giant snake from the Naga Temple. I encountered one running with a swarm of killer bees before I got to Dreadoth Temple. Excellent experience points.

Thanks, I appreciate it. You shouldn't have that much trouble with Nauselom with the power you have. I posted a strategy for him a little while ago, and I'll be happy to paste it in here if you need it, but I doubt you will -- it's more suitable for a weak character. I'll be interested to see what you think of the water jump (see other note).
I've just reached him this time through. Last time I was too weak and thought this was about the toughest dungeon ever made. This time I'm too strong, and waltzed through.
I had meant to quit here, there not being too much more I'm interested in ... but this talk of giant snakes has perked me up.
Did you get the Demon key? I've been through the Naga temple three times, and never got it yet. If so, do you remember which character had it? Maybe, if I continue, I'll just edit it in.

Demon key location
thoon,
According to the walkthrough the Demon Key is held by the thief in the northern-most cell in the prison area of the East Temple zone (5). In the walkthrough it says he'll give you temple hints and then if you follow him around the room he'll hand over the Demon Key.
When I tried this I followed the walkthrough and spoke to the thief. He gave me information, but continued to run away while I scrolled through the dialogue tree. I thought that was odd because usually when I talk to people they pause and have a conversation. By the time I cycled through all the dialogue options he had already phased out of the room and I never got the key from him. I don't know if the trick is to trap him so he can't leave while you talk to him. Or if you can simply follow him without talking to him and he'll give you the key without a conversation.
I had saved before entering the room, but after beating all the friggin' guards and spawning monsters I didn't want to go through it again, tempting death, just to talk to the thief again. I don't want to, but I'm going to hex edit the key. This will be the only editing in my game.
If I could do it over I'd waste all the baddies and then save before releasing the thief. That way I could reload and try him again without the hassle of the battle.
I have read your strategy for Nauselom, thanks for the tips. I'm dreading the whole Shadow dungeon puzzle mayhem. I've read the walkthrough and I've read the numerous angry posts about it. I'll write about my experience when I do it.

getting the demon key
Yes, save after you kill all the naga in the prison area. Then just release the northern most prisoner (that way you don't have 3 identical NPCs running around). He will talk to you under the bridge/catwalk on the west side. The info he gives you there is pretty much worthless so just close out the dialog and run to the exit. Then he'll talk to you at the exit and give you the key. I haven't tried it but you might be able to run strait to the exit after releasing him and just stop him there (need to test this). D

Gobatcha: That's the same experience I had. I did save and tried a couple of times. No dice.
On nauselom. stock up characters -- deathlords, say, to summon. I just finished Nauselom the second time. More trouble than I expected -- primarily due to overconfidence. Nonetheless, just a long sequence. But we're making too big a deal out of this.
Ferncliff. Hm. I would swear I followed him the whole way, trying to talk, and I got the same dialog while he walked around to the west side of the room and disappeared.

The thief should initiate dialogue with you. I have no idea why it works for some people but not for others. Did you rescue the guards in the temple?

I did rescue the other guards, and walked back to get the 10k bonus. I had the saved game, but there were so many possibilities I didn't try much. Whether or not you got the golden key first, whether or not you released the other thieves, whether or not you killed the Naga, and now whether or not you waited for him to initiate and whether or not you are at the exit.
It may also have to do with class --- A lot of things are different this time through, though I didn't get it first time either. I tried exhaustively this time, so unless it's a trick related to some other action or a bug, I had the feeling I wasn't meant to have it.
