Creating a Full Jedi Party (Spoilers)

Post by muscle_inc »

I have a question as to who can and cannot be turned into Jedi, and the dialog options for it.

It does not seem to be in any walkthrough options, and it would be great if anyone could help.

I think ATTON would be a great Jedi as he is basically invincible, and cannot fall in combat. How would I convert him?

Perhaps the thread title should have "Spoiler" added?

This was asked a lot while back. You can search both here and on the Obsidian forums for more information.

Spoilers: (highlight to view)

All characters except the droids (obviously), Mandalore and Hanharr can be trained as Jedi.

In order to train them, you need influence. More than 90% influence will allow you to train them to your alignment. That is, if you are Sith then so will they be; if you are Jedi then so will they be. If you have less than 10% influence - you lose influence rather than gain it - then you can still train them, but their alignment will be opposite to yours.

Also note that you need to be level 15 to train (this doesn't mean that you need to be a Prestige Class, just level 15).

How do you gain influence? Through being supportive in conversation (although there are only two options for Bao Dur that I can remember) and generally doing LS things in their presence (although Atton can gain through doing DS things if you say that it is for the best).

How do you gain influence specifically? You need an influence guide.

Once you have your influence, what next?

Atton: Speak to the two Twileks in the Refugee Quad on Nar Shaddaa. They will tell you that Atton isn't what he seems. Speak to Atton about it. In a long conversation (four parts, three require influence) he will tell you about his past. After this conversation he will become a Jedi Sentinel.

Bao-Dur: After each influence gain (or loss) talk to him. Eventually he will tell you that you have an "influence" upon him After this conversation he will become a Jedi Guardian.

Disciple: Easy. Just gain influence and he will become a Jedi Guardian. Sometimes you don't even have to leave the enclave room where you find him to do this.

Handmaiden: Ask her to spar three times and beat her. The first can be at any time after Telos, the second after you achieve level 15 and the third after you achieve level 18. Ask her to get dressed (you will need to get dressed first). Ask her about the robes she puts on (they are her mothers). Ask her about her mother. Ask Kreia about her mother. Speak to Handmaiden about your fears that your skills may be lost if you are killed (can be tricky to get the right sequence/conversation branches). After this conversation she will become a Jedi Guardian.

Mira: Ask her about being "restless" (you must ask this aboard the Ebon Hawk; the conversation option doesn't appear anywhere else). Tell her about the spot where Kreia showed you how to "listen" to Nar Shaddaa. With sufficient influence she will agree to let you take her. Go there with her in your party (just outside of the entertainment complex, north of the central pit) and she will become a Jedi Sentinel.

Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for the great advise. You are a star. Will be interesting.

Does atton's (will not fall in combat as long as have party support trait) really work? Never seen him fall in combat, and he'd be seriously annoying with a LS if he can't be taken down.

The feats that Atton gets do work. Whenever he falls - so long as someone else is still standing - he may recover.

However, if he does he only gets a portion of his vitality points back, depending upon what level of feat he has: 10% with Spirit, 20% with Fighting Spirit and 30% with Heroic Resolve.

So, the fact that he doesn't always recover, together with the limited vitality points he recovers with means that he is far from unbeatable in combat.

Incidentally, the Revitalize series of force powers does something similar for all characters. Kreia usually gets this ability as a recommended power.

It seems like you have found the GameBanshee walkthrough. Check out the character information section for more information about feats and force powers.

Planning how you level up NPCs is more important in KotOR 2 than KotOR 1, because of the more "cinematic" nature of the gameplay. If this is your first playthrough, treat it as a learning experience; without spoiling anything, building Atton and Mira's characters is important, but tricky the first time through. Later in the game you split into two parties of three; converting your party into Jedis makes this mission much less frustrating.

So hang on...so far i'm having a bit more trouble as a DS player, converting Bao Dur into a Jedi. Are you saying that I can make choices that he might disagree with, and I can still gain influence with him? Or, even though I'm a DS'er, do I have to make choices that he would agree with, and take the LS points in order to convert him?

I'm also one point away from converting Atton...i've beaten Nar Shadaa (my first planet), and now I'm on Dantooine, near the end of that planet, but as of yet there have been no opportunities to get him to give me another influence point.

Any ideas? Or will it just eventually happen?

I printed out that influence guide yesterday, and last night tried to get bao-dur and handmaiden another couple influence points, but to no avail. I tried them both seperately, having saved at the beginning of Dxun. I tried saving the Mandalorian who's stuck on top of the ridge where the permacrete detonater is, then not telling his commander why he was stuck up there. Nothing. (I'm a DS player..so maybe this does have an outcome regarding influence on certain NPC's?). I have already sparred with handmaiden 3 times too! I must have lost some influence with her at some point, but I find being a DS'er and picking the right conversation options to avoid LS points AND get influence is bloody tricky. I wish they'd just give you different NPC's based on your alignment.

It's really annoying me...lol. I need a few more jedi in my party...though Atton I'm thinking I can probably turn into a jedi.

But this is becomming extremely frustrating!!!

I have a question.

Bao-Dur can be trained to be a Jedi, can he also become a Sith?

That and I also want to know why Bao-Dur can't wear Jedi or Sith robes?

Well, I have never played with Bao-Dur as a sith, but it stands to reason that you can.

We would like to know why he can't wear robes of an kind (just roll up the sleeve) but as said above, considering that his arm is a live wire, I could see why he could only wear armour.

Heh. Good point, that is probably why he is unable to wear the robes. Too bad you can't order him to make a casing to attatch around the live electricity.

Oh well... His arm looks cool with the live electricity anyway.

It would seem that Bao Dur was originally intended to be able to modify robes and armour for his own use, but that didn't make it into the final game.

Maybe a time constraint? Bao Dur's body model is different to those of the other humanoid characters which would have required "Bao Dur specific" models for each of the robes and armours he could have converted. Which is one of the reasons that no-one in the modding community have tried to restore this.

* EDIT * Ah, so that is where I read it:
There are also sound files for giving armour to Bao-Dur so that he may modify the armour so that it can fit him, but restricted to only him after it has been modified. I believe that this is the reason why there is very little in the way of armour for Bao-Dur throughout the game. These files can be found in GBLBAODUR262--->270
Guess what? It is from the TSL Restoration Project'ssuggestions for inclusion thread. I hardly ever mention them...

You know, without having that influence guide right from the get-go as a DS player, I think you'd have a very difficult time getting anyone to change classes and become Jedi. Especially in the beginning of the game. I know myself I am very concious of what I say so I can gain (in this time around's case) DS points, yet some of those conversation choices result in a loss of influence with any given NPC. That to me is a silly system.

As a DS player, I wish there was a bit different of a system for gaining influence with your party, rather than making them feel good about themselves, or through your actions. Especially if they start out more on the light side.

As a LS player, I had everyone except atton turned over to a jedi....sigh...

Well, what I'm trying to do now in my new file is follow the light, until it is time to train a compainion and then in that dialog I say - "I will teach you the dark side" or whatever you say.

The character becomes a Sith and I only get one DS Point, leaving no one the wiser. Then once I train as many as I can to be Sith I go down the same path last.

I still don't know if it works yet. But it sounds like it should work.

Well, definately let me know! I think next time I'll follow the influence guide to a "T" then worry about my dark side/light side points once I have converted who I want to be jedi.

<SPOILER>

Oh, and I finally got Atton to convert last night...during the final attack on Telos by the Sith and Nihilus. But big deal...at this point I can do the levels on my own, my companions just get in the way.

Spoiler Yeah? Cool. I became really frusterated when everytime I went to talk to him - to try and convert and he'd keep saying "I don't think we're ready for that converstation yet..." Urrgh!

My theroy looks like it's working so far.. All you really have to do is say the right things during converstation and not care whether it gets you DP or LP.

Also, I'm trying to get T3 to share his secrets... I think I've done it before.

I've never had much to do with the droids and influence. I know that by the end of the game the Handmaiden was fairly close to being able to beat on my own character...

It is fairly difficult to get any of them to convert early... I think the earliest I ever got was 13. The best way is never to let them level up and then get all the influence with them. Then you can train them to be a jedi.

I did that with one charatcer (Atton, I think... although I left him with some heavily modified pistols in case I have to drag him out :p ) and it worked out ok.
