Bard. Skald.

I always thought they were weak... how wrong I was.

Rather than try the Blade, which is simply a fighter, try the Skald, it is a huge killing machine.

Trust me, don't try the Blade, because it isn't fun, you might as well do a fighter for more HLAs.
In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.

druids are great, my favourite run-through was with a solo avenger. you get 6 or so shapeshifts from start that makes starting out a bit easier and then with hla's and some higher level spells it's much much fun.

Wild mages are a great deal of fun. If you have ToB installed, you can play one.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

F/M/T's are pretty fun... Very flexible and powerful. I had an easier time taking out firkraag and going through Watcher's Keep in Ch. 2 soloing with one than I did with an entourage... Probably those High-level abilities! No Dragon's Breath, though... :(
i'm breakin through i'm bending spoons i'm keepin flowers in full bloom i'm lookin for answers from the great beyond

If you want fun without having to give up anything, you should go swashbuckler/mage. Dual at lvl 13 or so and make sure to put enough points in pick pockets/findtraps and lock pick. Maybe stealth and traps after you get the others to around 90ish.
