Is there some way I could make my character to use specific type of attack when engaging enemy on its own like rapid fire?
If not I think this is the greatest flaw in the game concerning combat.
Default attack?

Well, I think the closest to that you can get would be to attack with your character, then switch to another party member. When you control another member, your character will use combat feats, items, etc. that are best suited for what's going on. It's not much, but it's better than nothing. Besides, automated systems inspire laziness, and givin our modern media, I'm sure that everyone knows the products of laziness.
Get up, stand up. Come on, throw your hands up.

With some obvious exceptions.
Your characters will perform to whatever default action you set it to, whether that be Grenadier, jedi support, ect. However, if it just set on default, then it will not uise grenades, but will use feats and force powers to their maximum pontential. I am pretty sure they do not use items on their own.
Besides, you can set 4 rapid shots in a row, or alter that attack plan. I do that anyways whenever the screen pauses. Then, I rotate and remove things that I do not think would be useful and replace them with others.
Sorry, I am pretty sure there is no default setting. Perhaps a mod, but I rather like to stay away from those, since with my computer prowess, I will most likely ruin something.
