Problem with getting armor

Post by Lolal »

Hi all,

This is my first post on GB forums, so please forgive any "inconvenient" sentence

I am experiencing a problem with getting armor. During the game, no one would sell me any clothing (in SM, DT, HD or CH) but I managed to finish the Society of Leopold quest without it anyway (no big deal, I know).

At first, I thought I needed a certain level in an attribute or skill to be able to wear it. But now I am quite proficient, and still no possibility to buy an armor. And I want to have the battle armor frop Heather! so I talked to her before reporting to Lacroix, and the dialog shows that she's giving it to me. But when I look at my inventory, the armor is nowhere to be seen
I didn't get the message stating that my inventory is full either, and no armor on the ground.

So now I suspect a bug in a patch that prevent me from wearing any cloth. I am currently using patch 1.7. Did anyone ever meet such problem? if so what did you do to solve it??

Thanks for any help...

You probably know this, but there are multiple inventory pages, accessible by using the << and >> buttons when you have opened the inventory.

Alas..

... yep I know it, but the armor is nowhere...and this doesn't explain why I never could buy one to a NPC :/
But thanks anyway for the answer, it was worth a try.

Just curious (and this shouldn't be a problem), but did you install the official v1.2 patch before the v1.7? If you did, then that is a bug I have not heard of before.

There should be no minimum trait number needed to purchase the clothing from either Larry (in SM), the dude at Red Spot (in HW), or Tseung (in Chinatown).

Might be your language version....I had the same problem with the german language version, you couldn't buy the other armors cause there was a bug with the clothing menu.
If you installed the game in another language, install it anew. This time as the english language version.

Pb solved

Hi again,

as mentionned in the title, I am now empowered with a fresh battle armor! So far, I only reinstalled the game in english, with no patch attached, and it works fine. Dunno what could have caused the bug, either the patch or the language pack
In any case, it works. Thanks to you all and have a good gaming time!

amour

anybody know if lovely Heather can give you body armour if you haven't bothered buying the heavier clothes?

I like having a good dex - an old habit from RPG - I always wanted to have Dex 19 characters where possible rather than Str 18/00 - and so I use the 2nd level clothing the most as that has improved armour but no dex penalty.
Isaac can give you the fae charm (as well as it being on sale at Tseng's) - can you double up on it if you have dex inhibiting clothing or do both faes count as one?

I'm fae-sed by that issue...

oh and as an aside - anybody notice that you can sometimes 'sell' dex level back for the xp and apply it elsewhere? I think it requires a combination of level, fae and armour to do, but it rather shocked me to be able to sell a point of dex back into the pot.

I am not sure if she will give it to you or not, but I would imagine that portion is in the game play regardless, and the game would assume you have purchased the other levels of clothing up to that point. That would be interesting to try though.

WHAT!? I must have missed that one. How do you get Issac to give you the fae charm?

Probably the language version....As I said before, I had the same problem with the german language edition.

Toreador only?

I'm playing as a gangrel and he has told me ot come back later for it.
I can't recall what triggers the 'later' being satisfied - it is not just a "pop outside and back in" later, unlike certain other quests.

I am pretty choosy about when I wear which armour - aggravated damage is a reason for it, but the dex penalties often outweigh the advantages - however - when I'm wandering around in shirt sleeves being slashed to ribbons I usually give in and get dressed up.
