Jaheria or Aerie? Which one?

Post by master_chan »

I got to the dialogue where Aerie tells off Jaheria and she gets pissed. Which romance is better and should i go for? I have to diss one of them. if i do, the romance for that character doesnt continue right?

Aerie will not dump you, but it isn't really a good thing to sleep with her, cause then she "breaks off" the relationship. I never completed it having slept with her, and it lasted till the end of the game.

Viconia will sleep with you twice, which attracts the attention of Lolth, a bad thing. So then she'll stop, but she'll stay with you. She's after you for her own reasons though. (ie: you're powerful, she wants a nice place in the surface world), although she claims to love you in her own way.

Finally Jaheria. She takes the longest to win over, and it's tied closely with the harper plot. This is the only one of the three relationships that remains sexual until the end of the game. (She's the only one with a "Jaherianookie" value in the globals)

My advice: Go with Jaheria, the plot is alot better and you wind up with alot of neat items and exp for your trouble.

Well, playing a female I never got to into a romance with either of them (sadly enough), but just on personality I'd go for Aerie (even though she's already got Minsc to protect her).
And just out of technical considerations I'd also have to leave Jaheira to her own devices; I heard her script's already very complex, I don't thinks she needs a romance on top of that.

right! The game is rather realistic in that way. Tell a gal off and sleep with her friend...and you have nary a chance with her.

Don't you prefer one over the other yourself? There's not a wrong choice, but I prefered Jaheira.

Well, I have made it past the part where you "choose" and I let Aerie go. Aerie was a whiny whiny character and since cutting her off she has ceased whining.

I really don't care about Jaheira either but I feel like it is part of the story so I thought I would go along with it as long as it doesn't cost me anything.

The whole romance thing in BG2 just escapes me. I suppose it gives the story more depth or realism but it really isn't much fun IMO.

To each their own I guess.

I'm playing the Jaheira romace right now, and it's definitely the most interesting because it's so complex...but that means it's difficult too, and prone to failure. I heard there are all sorts of things that can go wrong if you don't time things right, so I went for some spoilers (easy to find in a search of the threads). Basic rule of thumb on the Jaheira romance is to not do too much resting. If the Harper plot outpaces the romance dialogues, you get screwed. (It's complicated as to why resting affects this, but several threads explain it if you do some digging.)
