Tomes

Post by Arowyn »

I'm playing BG1 to get the tomes, but my question is...where are they? Image

I also heard there are two tomes of wisdom, handy since I'm a dual thief/cleric.

Thanks in advance,

there is 3 tomes of wisdom
one gotten in durlags tower, one during the poison quest in baldurs gate and one in the candlekeep tombs

find the charishma tome on the map with the gnoll fortress, in a cave

find the dex tome in the thieves guild in baldurs gate

strength tome in candlekeep tombs

con tome, in the treausre trove safana is looking for

forgot the int tome, get it from the tall mage tower in baldurs gate, the one where you outside is visited by the mage that wants you to retrieve a nymph from an enemy mage

I wish the Tomes were in BG2... I miss 'em! True, they were heavy and all, but they were my closest friends, that 20th point of dexterity was so welcome.
*sigh* Those were the days.

Don't get me going! Ahh, too late!
"Those were the days my friend!
I thought they'd never end!
We'd sing and dance forever and a day!
We'd live the life we choose!
We'd fight and never lose!
For we were young and sure to have our way!
Lalalaaalala lalalalaaalala lalalalaaa lalaalalalalaaaa..."

My ranger was still so young and unexperienced. Compared to now: he's killed his 2nd dragon already. I'm so proud of him...
*sniff*

Boooooo-heheheheheee...

Couldn't you just use one of those character editor programs and get the same result without all the work??

Handing over the Tome to the Priestess of Umberlee and then pickpocketing her doesn't work ... once you've handed over the Tome, it's gone for good.

But you CAN pickpocket the Corpse you need off of the Bitch Priestess of Umberlee, if you want to keep the Tome you've been given.

In BG1 the trick is to go to the priestess of umberlee and 'get the quest to get the tome of wisdom', then go to 'the other temple' to get it and. Come back to the temple of umberlee and pickpocket the scroll to cure the geas (or something) for the baddie guy (Marek or whatever) ... So - you don't have to give the tome to the priestess to get the scroll.

The other tomes of wisdom were in Durlag's Tower & Catacombs of candlekeep - as probably someone has already mentioned.

Scroll? Wasn't it a body? IIRC, someone sneaked into the temple, got into trouble and got himself killed, and you got the quest to retrieve the body for resurrection. The Priestess wanted the Tome in return for the corpse ... unless my memory fails me here.

The body thing was a separate quest. I'm not a 100% sure but I think that you were suppost to get the 'tome of wisdom' to the pristess to get the scroll to cure the geas for Marek. I don't recall what you were suppost to get the priestess for the body, but I think you could also steal the body ...

I think it was a plate that control the water that the priest wanted.

The plate of water control (or whatever - further TPOWC). It was from the priestess of Umberlee outside baldur's gate (actually - in the 'bridge-map'). You were suppost to get TPOWC from the ankheg map from the fisherman villagers?

As I recall the whole TPOWC thingie was for the priestess ourside baldur's gate (in the bridge map) while we were disgussing the other priestess of Umberlee, who is in Baldur's Gate 'Docks' district.

Then again, I don't know for sure - but that's how I recall it.

If you help the priestess outside (near the bridge) with her plate, she will help you getting the body back from the head priestess in the temple in Baldur's Gate.
The poison quest with the tome, etc. is a separate quest for obtaining the cure for the geas.
