New Post Indications

Post by Aegis »

Not sure about anyone else, but starting today, the forum doesn't seem to give any indications for me that new posts were made. It makes it difficult to see which forums and threads have had activity. This might be a local issue with my computer, but I figured I'd see if anyone else has experianced this problem.

Which icons is it you are missing - all mine seems to "work" properly, but you might be experiencing problems related to the design changing which is going on, or perhaps it is mearly a glitch, although the former seems more plausible.

I do get bold letters for threads with new posts, if that's what you mean by indications...

For me, the forum didn't warn me I had a new PM, while it usually does, so that's new, and most dropdown-menus (search, display, rate and thread tools) don't work. The dropdown-menus work in this 'Reply to Topic' page, but not in any thread/forum with more than 1 page...

Any indication, actually. It used to light up the images next to the forum header to indicate new posts. Not so much anymore. I suspect the same, in that it has something to do with the new layout and interface. As it stands, I have to keep a real keen eye to see if anything new is around

Well - I seem to get all indicators of new threads, so it might be a local issue.
Perhaps a cache issue?

Do you use multiple windows? If you reply to a thread in one window, the other one will pop up and say that it has a new post... by you, and the letters will be bold.

I use the bold as well... the icons never seemed to catch me, so I rarely used them for posting. Anyways, the icons disapear after a certain amount of time... several hours, I believe. Of course, I don't know much as the rest of you. :p

I do not get dropdowns working... or anything else revolving after PMs. I periodically do not get notice of a new PM, but I usually do. However, I think Buck mentioned something in the previous thread about this having something to do with an update?

I get bold letters for every thread every time I reload a page. Is that what's supposed to happen ? Drop downs haven't worked since the changes were made

The drop down issue, is because of the chances, as mentioned in the other thread in this forum. Buck is hard at work redesigning the template for the forum as mentioned in that thread.

Have these issues been taken care of with the new layout?

Speaking of issues... it seems that the bottom of the screen with Currently Active Users is not working right.

People who show up as online and are posting do not show up in that box. I noticed as I watched Xandax, CM and Aegis all post at different times today and not show up on the list. Along with many others. I also know that at least 3 people are currently posting, as their threads just popped up, but it says that only I am online.

Also, some others, like Galuf, show up immediately.

Is my browser just slow? I don't think that is the case, but it may be... this computer is not exactly reliable.
