Please Help Me -

My game crashes at random intervals, usually every 3-5 minutes. I get the following message in a windows box: AN ASSERTION FAILED IN ChData Types.cpp at line number 250. (This usually happens when I try to access the inventory, or move the the cursor to the edge of the screen.) It has also happened when I try to generate a new character!?!?!?

I have an Athlon 750
Voodoo 5500 64meg video card
512mb 100mhz SDRAM
20 Gig Maxtor HD
Abit KA7-100 Board w/ VIA HPT370 Chipset
Sound Value Live Value Sound Card
I am running Windows 98 SE.

I have all of the updated drivers, for the board, chipset, etc as well as the BG2 patch. (English Version) I have also tried the International one. I have reinstalled the game 3 times, and reformatted my HD twice. I want to play this AWESOME game. Please help!!!!!

it doesnt work for win 98 se if its not an me eddition

You tried 2 patches? The international patch and english patch are two separate patches entirely, and installing both might screw the game up.

I don't think it's your hardware. It's either the game is corrupted (maybe the CD is scratched), or Windows is corrupted. You said you reformatted your drive, so you've also reinstalled Windows, right? Do you close all programs (via CTRL-ALT-delete) before starting BG2? One more thing: Maybe you're harddrive is physically bad (or has some bad sectors). Try running a surface scan.
