Questions on two quest
Questions on two quest
Im having difficulty with two quest.
[1] And Her Name Was Venus> DownTown> Venus will ask you to end the life of a man named Boris to avoid having to pay him anymore "late fees". If you accept, she'll provide you with an Empire Mafia Key, which will get you into the penthouse level of the Empire Hotel to pay a personal visit to Boris.
QUESTION: Did I blow this one by killing EVERYONE on the Penthouse floor before contacting Boris ?
From what I can tell, the only way to get to see Boris is by talking to a guard outside his door. As it stands now, EVERYONE is dead on the penthouse floor & I cant locate Boris. I have come to a set of double doors that show a lock icon when viewed [cant be picked, btw]. I suspect Boris is behind these doors & killing the guard outside these doors has eliminated any possibility of me completing this quest, correct?
[2] A Dish Best Served Cold> Hollywood> Prince tells you that he has a financial interest in a restaurant here in Hollywood called the Cafe Genovese. He has made an offer on the establishment, but the owners refuse to accept it. However, the restaurant is going to be the subject of a review from food critic Tommy Flayton very soon and the Prince asks you to convince him to give the cafe a bad review. [This is what my quest log says].
QUESTION: Why cant I find a Cafe Genovese in Hollywood? The only cafe there is the Cafe Cavoletti! Is this a typo in script? If so, why cant I gain access to the cafe in Hollywood after accepting email quest from the Prince?
Thanks!

Boris the Spider
that's an odd glitch about the doors. I have gone ape and got rid of all the guards before and never found those doors locked.
I suspect that perhaps when you killed the door-guard his dialogue-script had been triggered and that needed to be completed before the doors unlocked. If you had killed him without triggering the script, the doors would be unlocked and if the dialogue had been completed, the same. Another possibility might be that he is still alive?
It seems that if a dialogue script is triggered, it often locks out options until it is finished - see Beckett in street problem.
If you stealth-kill the doorman or get into the fight - there is no problem with the doors. if you are fighting with Boris, guards rush to the room and it would be handy to lock up until healed sometimes, but in they rush with braddocks emptying clips into you. almost as bad as Glaze.

They do? Don't recall any major fights in Boris' room, you can even get rid of the doorman before disposing of Boris. Or have the doorman dispose of Boris ...
The Beckett problem is different, as a cutscene starts the PC is put in Frenzy mode(?), which makes it uncontrollable by the player, while Beckett gets stuck in the alley .... deadlock, not doorlock

One for two.
I figured out the Cafe quest, apparently the mis-match of names is typo.
Here I was looking for the Cafe Genovese & it never existed!

The Venus> Kill Boris quest is one I'll have to forfiet. Ive gone back to this quest several times hoping to find an alternate way of salvaging this quest, but no luck. I went back again last pm after posting this & hoped to find a clue I overlooked. Im sure killing the guard BEFORE talking to him is what broke the scripting of this quest. I simply cant get to Boris inside his room.
Oh well....time to move on

I've always just stealth-killed that guard and mosied on through. I've never talked to him once, and was surprised to find that it was possible. Also, my first couple of times through, I did kill all of the guards before Boris, and never had a problem. Now I fight through to Boris, kill him, and then kill the rest of the guards. No problemo.

I think so, a short hallway leading from the main hallway, which goes around the ballroom, leads to Boris' room. [Edit: That short hallway starts between two doors into the ballroom.]
If the elevator is south, Boris' room is way North.
I'll see if I can find a save and kill that guard rather then persuade/dement him.
Edit: I drained the guard in front of Boris' room and the door just unlocked. After that, I drained Boris, nobody showed up to join in the feast.

PERFECT! That would provide a specific answer for my delima in this quest.
Thank you sooo much MalaksBane.

Alert
it may depend on whether a general alert is triggered - some places you lose the chance for dialogue because you are flagged as 'hostile' - if you drain the doorman then that is sometimes the case and Boris starts shooting as soon as he sees you and THAT attracts some guards. If you have drained the doorman without triggering a 'fight' flag ('you cannot speak the character is in combat') then Boris can be dealt with without him loosing off guns.
