When to rest to get Jaheira "Dawn of the day"?
When to rest to get Jaheira "Dawn of the day"?
OK, I'm not leaving anything to chance this time, I've got saves all over the place
As far as I am aware, to get this dialogue you must rest outside........but at what time of the day? Wjhat must the time be when you wake up? Dawn exactly? Is that 6 hours into a day?
And I haveto agree with the other thread on this board, a chimp DID right this script

You are taking this WAY too seriously. Next thing you know you are going to be having Jaheira dreams, like a certain someone(s). It only needs to be outside. She doesn't have a watch and is just too damn randy to care.
It was in the graveyard in my game during broad daylight.

Well, I have heard about your Jaheira dreams, Jaheira daydreams, and I even recall something about playing the romance music and thinking about her. This....is not normalOriginally posted by Karembeu:

Hmmmm, I have thus far only managed to get the Dawn bit, AFTER killing Demrin. In fact my love rating reached 55, then got boosted to 56 by the Dawn chat. But I thought it wasn't possible to move beyond 52 UNLESS you did the Dawn talk BEFORE killing Dermin?
Thus far I can't get the damn Dawn talk to come up before Dermin.

That's the current theory, but I'm not entirely sure how accurate it is. I've experienced Jaheira romance loops both before ANY Dermin meeting and after getting past the conversation that's supposed to be the sticking point. Basically, the only answer I can give is this: if Jaheira does anything even the tiniest bit odd, chances are your romance is screwed up for the rest of the game. In fact, if anything even the tiniest bit odd* happens to or around Jaheira your romance is screwed up for the rest of the game.Originally posted by Quitch:

*-Includes any of the following: Jaheira leaves the party, Jaheira dies, Jaheira is hit, a spell is successfully cast on her, a spell is unsuccessfully cast on her, a spell is cast in her general direction, someone somewhere on the screen fires a bow or otherwise uses a weapon, another NPC speaks, the PC speaks, you speak, someone in the room next door to you speaks, someone outside your building coughs, a bird flies overhead, the wind blows, a bug dies, a car honks, or the earth rotates.
LOL
Bugs in games I'mused to, but releasing a "final" patch with such a blatently buggered script, that's a bit much!

I got it after killing Dermin .What's it with it anyway ? It sure improves your love-talk but what's important about it i wonder ..

OK, can someone tell me what kicks this talk into action? Game time? Real time? Something else?
I don't want to have to keep trying to get it before Dermin.

check the "Jaheira Romance - Spoiler's Galore" thread here for the best delineated theory about this difficult and buggy story line. As mentioned, it might not be 100% true, but it kicked mine back into action.

Already done that, and thus far it hasn't helped.

Yes, as a junior member I'm sure all the...what, 2 or 3 times you may have posted it must have been emotionally crippling. Why not just answer his question instead of directing him elsewhere?Originally posted by Sparrowhawk:

Quitch: all Jaheira romance dialogues work on real time. Some either require resting or have locational prerequisites as well, meaning you'll want to be in a forest, i.e. Temple Ruins or the Druid Grove. The only way to trigger the "dawning of our day" dialogue is to rest in a forest when it's time for a new dialogue to come up. So leave the game on pause for an hour to make sure enough time has passed since the last dialogue, then rest in the woods. If you still don't get it, it's because your script is screwed up and you're just out of luck. Contrary to popular belief, Jaheira's script can lock up at pretty much any time for about a million different reasons...killing Dermin too soon is just the most common one. It's quite likely that your script is screwed up for another reason entirely, and if that's the case then the only advice I can offer is this: romance Viconia next time. Reloading a much earlier save and trying again may fix the problem, but more likely than not you'll end up repeatedly leaving the game on pause for an hour at a time only to get back to this point and have it STILL screwed up, which is unbelieveably annoying. So I can only suggest either starting a completely new game and being absurdly careful with Jaheira, starting a new game and picking a different girl, or continuing from where you are and forgetting about the romances. You could also try using CLUA codes to skip several romance dialogues (which means you miss some interesting conversation) and possibly get things back on track that way, however given how absurdly fragile Jaheira's scripts are it's doubtful that you'll be able to get that to work perfectly. If you decide to go that route, refer to the post suggested earlier, it has the step by step instructions to change your lovetalk rating. I don't particularly recommend it, though.
As always, with a thousand curses upon the moron that made her romance quests tied to her Harper quests, sincerely,

This is what I don't understand. The dialogue came up just about a day after killing Dermin, but I haven't managed to get it to come up BEFORE.
But I'm not giving in yet, I've got a few things I can try still and a lot of previous saves to fall back on
Maybe I'll have to look through the script and see if a good rewriting can come up with something a lot more stable.

i had the same problem, when i rested in a forest, the 'Dawn' talk wouldn't come, instead it was that bastard Dermin who appeared and messed everything up
so i reloaded before i rested, ensured the lovetalk was at 53, and set the global variables DERMINAPPEAR to 38480971 and JAHEIRAROMANCE to 1, which delayed dermin's appearance, and allowing me to rest and get the 'dawn' talk. Dermin appeared the next time i rested
and later on i ran into more trouble with jaheira, she keeps stuttering but that's another story, dunno if its related to it...

Woohoo!
This particular event is triggered by lovetalk 55, so what exactly have I missed that should happen at lovetalk 53?? Anyway, I set it to 55, rested and got the talk, so the romance is now moving along once more.
