I have a technical question. I'm thinking about creating a drow monk who is of the order of Shar, which means he can multiclass into a sorcerer. Can such a monk cast the Sunbeam or sunscorch spells without getting hurt because he is a drow? Seems a bit of a paradox: drow can't stand sunlight, but if the drow is a sorcerer, he should be able to cast the sunbeam without getting hurt.
Any advice would be most appreciated.

No worries as Sunscorch is either a race specific ability (aasimar) or a cleric/druid spell. So technically a sorc won't be casting that.
Sunbeam can only be cast by Druids and morninglords of Lathander if I am not mistaken so again not a problem for your drow monk/sorc as they can't cast it.

Ahh, yes, ur right about Sunscorch and Sunbeam not being part of the sorcerer/wizard repertoire. So my drow monk of the order of Shar wouldn't be able to cast these spells in the first place.
However, I went back to the manual and see that Sunfire is in the sorcerer/wizard spell list. The description of the spell says that it can blind drows if they fail their Reflex save. So would my drow monk/sorcerer always be in danger of blindness if he casts Sunfire?

Last I checked, spellcasters were still affected by AoE spells of their own making. This may have changed, though, I haven't played the game in a few months. Maybe somebody released some crazy new mod I don't know about (which is why some random guy is answering one of your questions... just checking up on things =P).
Haven't you ever run a mage into a room full of baddies and dropped a Fireball? This is why multiclassed paladin/sorcerers are so powerful; they have a much better chance of making the saving throws involved in their own spells.
