Subscript bug, please help!

Post by Spidersoft »

Hail to You!

I ran across a very annoying bug: the game doesn't put the subscripts on correctly. Sometimes leaves an empty message box, sometimes starts to write the text and in the very middle of the line clears the full lext, sometimes miss a line or two, or just a part of a line. If an error occours az a case the mistake will the same everytime that text appears, except I restart the game. Then other errors on other texts... I haven't reached even a low level of English by hearing (uhm... and writing, too...sorry for bad English ;) ) and I have to switch the texts on to understand all the texts....

I brought the same copy to my friend and the bug didn't appeared...

Here is a sample screenshot: http://spidersoft.fw.hu/fablebug.jpg (I hope it works abroad)

My computer: MSI motherboard w/ nForce3, Sempron2600+64bit, 512/400 DDR, Inno Gef6200, NVidia driver version: 77.77 (this was the newest, but the shipped 77.72 did the same)

My friend's computer: Asus pIII mb, 1200MHz Celeron, 2x256/133 SD, Inno Gef4TI (4200 perhaps), unknown ver of NVidia driver.

Same operating system: WinXP SP1...
At first I thought the problem based on the low amount of disk space (Warcraft III has it with the early versions of Hungarian translation), but there must be something else causing it (9 gigz of free space would be enough for temp files for any game ;) )

I would be happy for a solution, if someone have... it's a strange thing.

Thanks! I've forgotten the refresh rate! A tuned almost everything from min to max hoping the bug disappear but nothing happened... Perhaps this will solve the riddle! :) (this is the first game bug I haven't figured out how to avoid yet :) )

Its a well know bug. You can see it posted on other boards. I have the same issue. If you dont have one of the listed video cards that the game supports you will have missing text issues. I have the same issue with a GeForce 7800. And yes I have the latest drivers. I have tried various settings in game and out of game. Nothing fixes the text problem. Its very annoying.

Only fix I can see for it is a patch. But as Peter M's current attitude toward patches is horrid. He thinks games are perfect after heading out the door.

The problem is actually me and my bad English :-/ Especially when the TV speaks in Hungarian while I keep trying to recognize the speech :) Or when a happy crowd don't even want to stop clapping... :D

If the author want me to give money for his product he have to give support in exchange! ]) (in Hungary the game costs about $55-58 and I work for a week for it :( That's why I wait till the price will be lower)
