I enjoy RPG's more than any other type because you have to use your brain to play them, they are more than just games and involve planning/organisation/principals/intelligence to just play them at a low level.

This doesn't apply to all RPG's, for instance Diablo/Dungeon Siege which are FPS's first and RPG's second. This certainly does apply to The Elder Scrolls series, Fable, Dungeon Lords and others.

This may sound a bit snobby, but when I finish a good RPG I always have a massive sense of achievement, when I complete a FPS the feeling is more of relief that it is over (and I include HL in that).

Someone mentioned graphics in that they do not have to be groundbreaking, I agree here, some games seem to sell themselves based upon graphics - Far Cry - yet are straightforward FPS's where you are doing the same things after 1 hour as after 20 - which is rarely the case with a good RPG.

RPing is pretty much like acting... and a lot of people act to be someone else. It's no fun RPing a character exactly like yourself, right?

For me it's a kind of escape from real life... it sort of opens your eyes of how many types of people there are in the world -- because many of these characters you see remind you of people. I was on a NwN server once, and a character reminded me of my best friend.
