I had some fun in SoA with Haer Dalis. And if your pc were a bard it would be even better, because it takes awhile to beat up the gang that guards Haer Dalis and so he is lower xp than say Aerie, Minsc, or Jaheira or someone you get earlier on. And bards level up amazingly fast too.

So you get skeletal warriors and potent flame arrows/skull traps very early on. Later, I don't think your as strong as a fighter/mage (in battle or in spells) but you have the improved bardsong, spike traps, Use any item, and a high casting level. You can identify and pickpocket.

Blades: are pretty good warriors as with dual-wielding and offensive spin they have as much attacks if not a good thaco/hp as fighters. Tensors transformation + strength belt (or Crom Faeyr) can correct that.

I never used the defensive spin much since the engine only allows (effective) AC of -20 and improved bardsong gives -10 blur -3 and items/armor bump you up to almost -20 anyways. Early on the defensive spin is effective but risky since you can't move and golems, dragons etc. still CAN hit you. Easy enemies you might as well kill with offensive spin before they can even attempt to hit you.

Offensive spin is good especially the +2 thaco/damage and extra attack. You can have 10 attacks per round early on! Just buy scarlet ninja-to (main hand) and kundane or belm (offhand) then wait for 6th level mage spells (improved haste).

Skalds and Jesters: I don't know what happens to their song once you get HLA's? I think the improved bardsong is better than either but you have to spend an HLA slot on it of course.

Haer Dalis:

This guys stats are decent and the constitution can be fixed (belt or SK). He also has interesting dialogue especially if you like darker characters. Maybe just take him as an NPC and have your PC as something else.

I'm not sure how great the AC is, but I have heard that it can beat chain mail. Perhaps a Cleric/Druid would appreciate it. Also, I'm not sure whether it gives casting failure to a wizard, so they might like it too.

The Human Skin armour is great for Viconia (provided she doesn't have STR enhancing items - belts, gauntles, Crom Faeyr) because it's light and adds to her Magic Resistance - takes it up to 85 I believe. But what about being a Barbarian? They would benefit big time from it aswell wouldn't they?

the +5 chainmail you can buy from rimbald is still allot higher in the AC, and i dont think a a druid works since you have to be neutral for druid..

If I remember correctly, I have seen other druid kits that allowed evil alignment... afterall, Faldorn was evil.

I'd go with the idea of a Barbarian, seeing as it fits perfectly with that.

If you're going to start asking questions that involve spoilers, Adelon, place a SPOILER indication in your thread title--and ask using black-on-black. We still get complaints from people who are playing BG2 for the first time, and don't want to know info in advance.

So created the babarian and whent for evil side.. so mea'var sends me to pick up some statue of the lathern temple.. and when i get the statue from the box a alarm go of and i end up killing the entire temple? now my question is how can i prefent this? and if i cant is what i did bad for future gameplay? (other factions, and the quest to retrief the ring for that specific temple?) or do i now have to help out the evil temple?

Adelon, you've already asked a question that defines this thread. Please start a new thread for a new question. :) I don't mean to get on your case, but that will make it a lot easier for people doing a database search to find content.

Thanks.

Thanks. Since it's apparent you no longer need the question at the top, this thread's closed.
