Sorcerer subclass?
Hey, I just started playing a sorcerer in the main campaign (I got both expansions aswell) and I was wondering what a good subclass is for the sorcerer? I cant take Paladin cus I aint lawful good. So what other good ones are there for the Sorcerer? Also, Would a Sorcerer/Wizard be getting spells like the Wizard and casting like the Sorcerer or something..?

If you are Lawful at all, take a few levels monk. The bonuses the monk give is quite good for any mage. if you are evil, you could always take a few levels of Blackguard. They get the same charisma to bonus saves as the paladin.
A sorcerer/wizard would get two different spellbooks to choose spells from. One being the sorcerer list and the other the wizard list.
Well, Actualy I'm Chaotic Neutral. And almost everyone I'v spoken to before claims that you almost have to take a single level of Paladin for the sorcerer in order to make them survive better and stuff..
That combination is only "powergaming" in my book, because the Paladin has Charisma based bonuses which is also the prime attribute for Sorcerers. It isn't needed.
Once a sorcerer increases in levels he survives very easily withouth such a multiclass.
It is the lower levels which are harder, but a henchmen. summons, and a familiar can help out with survivability at thoese levels.
Also remember that you'll not attain level 40 by normal play, but only by going through the game a number of times or cheating. So multiclassing might be less interesting. Most times when taking the same character through all three games he ended up around L27-28 for normal play.

i've done all 3 nwn campaigns as a pure sorceror and you don't need to multiclass to survive. early on you can use summons and after a few levels you start getting really powerful really fast. the key to surviving is to remember to have some defensive spells as well as offensive spells. if you buff yourself up you can end up just as protected from damage as a fighter etc. and maybe even better protected in a lot of situations. and by using summons and choosing your spells carefully, remembering you are stuck with them til you next level up, you should never get into melee at all. and if you are really stuck, and you have found one (cos you don't get the spell til you can cast 6th level spells), tensers transformation scrolls are very handy if you are struggling against a boss. i always used one as a sorceror in the end of the beggars nest bit if i had managed to find one (but their appearance is random so they do not always appear early on)

Remember that sorcerers don't get more spells after lvl 20. So a pure lvl 40 sorcerer isn't very good compared to a pure lvl 40 wizard IMO(Please don't begin arguing on this
).
Add a few levels of rogue on your sorcerer. That would give him Tumble (which gives AC) and evasion (second or third level of rogue).

in a single player campaign you don't really get above level 30 in hotu so i just tend to dual to a prestige class when i stop getting any benefits from levelling up as a sorceror. i do agree that if you do want to multiclass then the rogue is probably the way to go as then you get better reflexes, search, tumble etc. which can make life a lot easier and you don't need to waste spell slots on things like find traps and knock.
