my gnome starts with 5000 exp, is that right?

all of the other races start at 1000 exp til next level, but 5000 exp brings my gnome to 5000 exp away. is this wrong?

in the- weidu mod for the game - i think its called ease of use like in BG series - there is a component that fixes the deep gnome bug.

You could use that, perhaps? I know you said that you didn't want to mod the game yet but I think otherwise the deep gnome....well you'd have to be even more patient! Definately the deep gnome is meant to have 9000 xp and it was a mistake of the game.

You can save the ease of use to the game file then run it. You get the option of installing any of the components. You could just fix the deep gnome and add the bonus merchants if you want (and whatever else seems necessary). At a later date you can install something else or remove a component that you don't like.

Or maybe dale keeper could do it but I haven't used that yet. Or you can give xp with the console (look up at gamefaqs).
