locked giovanni rooms

Post by mentaldisorder »

whats up with those locked rooms in the giovanni mansion? the one room with the couple in and near the bed, and the other room with the two girls in the bathroom? do they have any significance, or would they be there just for a convenient little snack?

There doesn't seem to be any point to them. I wonder if there was something there never implemented.

I've stood outside the room with the Clan Heads in it and listened to their conversation, but never bothered to try and open the locked doors... Figuring there was more risk of someone seeing then there stood to be gained from doing it. Likley, they are just fluff... After all, people who want prviacy lock doors!

You prolly burst in on a couple having some private time and... Er... Two ladies using a bathroom to check their make up and such. I know if I was using a bathroom or a bed room and had the door locked and someone picked it and bust in... I'd be pretty peeved!

I've only been through a few of the locked doors that weren't necessary, and they are highly predictable. You get the dancing freak show from the startled innocents and the charge of the goon brigade from everything that has a weapon. And the zombies break loose. Don't forget the ever-lovable kiss me, you fool! zombies.

About all that doesn't come out of the woodwork are the stoic Chang Brothers.

i put on the cheats to make me invisible, strode into the big meeting, and it gave me an icon to speak to (im assuming) Boris. But...he never talks. Heh. Then I did something, hell came and people shriveled into zombies. it was interesting.

I did this scene tonight for the first time. I admit, I have more fun playing games like this in god-mode than conventionally .. so I just had a grand old time slicing up the enemies and just tearing through the place like a madman. Although tomorrow night I think I'm going to load my savegame from the beginning of the scene, because it seems like there's a lot more to the scene than just baddies shooting guns.

I missed the ritual scene. I did see some zombies shambling about in the upstairs through a window, but I think once I got into the room, they'd all shambled off somewhere. I don't know about you all, but so far the zombies have been the creepiest part of this very creepy game.

Ocean house is creepiest, even after a few play throughs.

the Zombies are a freak zone first time out - dark environment and brain eaters coming for you.

However, with calm and good weapons skills, they are chopped liver. either gun them down from a distance allow re-spawn, repeat etc. or use the blade or - quite good fun - the sledge-hammer!

if you use the switch on the next level - almost no more zombies need attention and it is on to the chang fight.

Yeah I agree. Ocean House is really creepy. On my first run-through I hadn't discovered the god-mode cheat yet, so I was playing it normally, and that scene was not one of my favorites.

The Malkavian house too, cause those nasty claw-swipers coming at you pell-mell (first person) sent chills down my spine. I managed to get through that level without the cheats as well, but it took forever and gave me the jibblies.

it wasnt the claws that gave me the creeps, it was playing it in the middle of the night with headphones on loud, and playing the professor's tapes while going thru the mission.

Yeah, and the background music and sounds too...
ROMERO: If you should see any zombies in that time, you need to put them down. Just don't let them bite you.
PC: Why? Do you turn into a zombie if they bite you?
ROMERO: Naw, it just hurts like a bitch.

my own theories

Perhaps we're getting a little off topic here.

I think that the room with the stripper in it is obvious. The guy is laying face-down on the bed, which isn't a position one is normally in on a bed with a stripper in the room. I think the stripper was supposed to have "killed" the guy, even though his eyes are open and he's breathing and can be killed.

As for the girls in the bathroom, I like they are supposed to be sniffing coke, or doing some kind of drug. If you listen for a moment, you can hear sniffing and coughing noises.

Anyway, that's my theory. I wish Troika would make a sequel.

When facing the central room (where the guests are mingling) with your back to the main entrance, there are doors to the left and right. They lead to the other rooms in the mansion. And there are secret doors next to them

Btw, it wouldn't neccesarily have to be Troika to make a sequel.

thats a good point but i'm still not getting my hopes up about there being one.

as for the rooms, i agree the stripper one is pretty obvious. as for the two women, i used auspex in that bathroom and fed off them. they look like female vampires but aren't cos they just drop down dead so i agree, they are probably taking drugs or something.

i wouldn't worry too much about missing those rooms as you need very high lockpicking to get in them and there is nothing worth seeing in them and no items anyway.

Actually, they may be vampires, but perhaps the Giovanni, having stolen their immortality, are vulnerable to being fed off by other vampires without being diablerized... Just a thought. I suppose then that would technically apply to the Tremere as well, except the Tremere didn't steal their immortality - they came by it honestly. They just stole their power.
