Flail of the ages help!
Flail of the ages help!
ok so I beat the arnise keep quest and since my character is a fighter I now own the place. But one thing I never did was kill the guard captain for the final flail piece. I was gonna let him live until I was strongenough to charm him to bring him back. I forgot all about it and beat the keep. When I returned he wasnt there and so now Im stuck with one of the greatest weapons in the game minus its finishing piece. The weapon right now isnt that strong I need the final piece to make it really good. Any ideas around this glitch?
I believe you can only create it before you gain the keep. Once gained, that area is blocked off, so you will have to add the whole thing through ShadowKeeper, but you'll miss a bit of xp.
You could still [Ctrl J] to the forge.

As far as i know you can't do anything about it, now that you've spoken to Nalia and earned the big batch of exp. You can cheat for the item like those above me said, but the poison flail head is gone forever. Every item in the keep (anything, like; ammo, the items the golems are guarding, even the golems themselves) and also NPCs you left in there (with the "just wait here for us" - dunno, maybe the patches fix it, but i never saw any reason to leave anyone in the keep so i don't know) gets wiped. I think the game loads a totally new map once you complete the place.
The first time i did the keep i didn't find the cold head, wasn't too happy about not having an ingredient either.

In that case it could work... though I'm not sure if the forge is still active.
But hey, I'd say chuck in the full flail, and the missing head pieces. If Ctrl + J works, then forge it and dump the other flail... if it doesn't, well you still have teh flail.

In memorian: Fiona; Ravager; Lestat; Phreddie; and all of those from the 1500 incident. Lest we forget.
To get around this "glitch" as you call it, you'll have to cheat.
Csonka is correct in saying, "The game loads a totally new map once you complete the place." The background artwork is much different after the Keep is cleaned up. To return to the original map, you can use the following CLUAConsole cheat code to reach the area where you left Glaicas:
CLUAConsole:MoveToArea("AR1303")
Kill Glaicas (or release him from Tor'Gal's charm spell) and get the flail head. When you move up and down the stairs, you'll still be traversing the old maps. You can use the forge in area AR1301 if you like; but the forge is also active in the "cleaned up" version of the keep in area AR1306.
If for some reason you can't acquire the flail head you need, you can create the heads in your inventory with the following commands:
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("BLUN14A")
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("BLUN14B")
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("BLUN14C")
I can't remember which is which.
There are other parts of the game where old maps are replaced with new maps when a quest is completed--for example, the Temple Ruins near Umar Hills, Merella's cabin, the basement of Mae'Var's guild hall, etc. If you intend to acquire a stronghold, don't leave any items behind in the old area or they won't be accessible in the new area. The game also has maps that change depending on when you accesss them--notably Bodhi's lair and the Shadow Thief lair. If you side with Bodhi, you will enter a "friendly" version of her lair, but if you oppose her, you will enter a "hostile" version of her lair. Her lair also uses a different map in Chapter Six.
Different circumstances require different background artwork and different scripts. Players aren't supposed to be aware of the technical details.
