HELP!! Beholders and Gauths are kicking my butt

Post by subterranean »

So I'm walking along feeling like a bad ass. Yeah, I just killed that stupid beholder "The Unseeing Eye." PHFFFF! More like "The Unseeing Fly." When I round a corner and Ackk!! A beholder and 3 of his Gauth buddies out for revenge. So no problem I'll just use this riff device that does such a good job. Who cares what "I" says. It's my ass not his. The only problem is it won't work anymore, and both my pet fire elementals just bit the dust.
A wise one once told me spell turning is the bane of all beholders. That's great, only I can't cast it.
Are there any noble (or not so noble)adventurers out there that can give me some advice before I'm digesting in a giant eye?
If I could be At The Drive-In my life would be complete.

What's your level? A beholder and 3 gauth won't be much problem if you can summon up more pets. Just get some rest before you go in to battle with them.

Yeah later in the game in the Sahaugian city (or something like that anyways) you can get a sweet item for fighting beholders n such. )I think its called Cloak of Spell Turning , you can find it on a priest somewhere around there. Put it on one of your badass fighters and those dumbasses cant touch you.

It's all about the Cloak of Mirroring you get in the underwater city, but from the sound of it you aren't there yet. Try going to the adventurer's mart and at least getting a scroll of spell turning, then see if that helps any.

One of the SHield of Balduran's abilities is the reflect beholder rays. It's great when they petrify themselves and you just walk up and whack em.

I finally killed the foul beasts. A pair of beholders and one and a half that many gauths. I sent my good friend minsc in to draw them away one at a time and then we'd ambush them. After a lot of lurking about through those foul tunnels we finally vanquished the foe. My fire elementals carved up the gauths when there wasn't a beholder around to fry them, while the beholders couldn't stand up to a mouthful of steel.
If I could be At The Drive-In my life would be complete.

Glad that worked for you. Of course, later on in the Underdark when you have the Cloak of Mirroring you'll be enjoying yourself a whole lot more.

Hiya,

I have a fool proof method for beholders and gauth. I dont fight them really at all...first I scout the area slowly and find where they all are...then you haste 1 or more fire elementals...you bring your scout just before where you would open up seeing the enemy. Then you point your fire elementals to the end of your range of site. One hasted fire elemental can kill 5 or so Gauth and a few beholders. Just sit back and let the critters die. Have a good day.

Is this the unseeying eye quest?

I take it everyone took the subterfuge method. All I did was walk in, kill two blind men, four shadow things and then pump up my newbie character and walk in and pommel the beholder.

Didn't go down the hole, and that was all I had to do to complete the quest.

probably missed out on a whole lot of cool items, but if they aren't katanas long swords or to handed swords, I ain't interested.

If you use the shield of Baldurien, it´s really a walk in the park, and veldrik not only you are losing a lot of easy XP (9000 for beholders ad gauths) but a helbert that work wonders against Dragons AND THE GAULETS OF DEXERITY, the only chalanger I face in there was the Blind Priests but I use the holy smite on them and It just became too easy.

Use Nishruu and Aerial Servant, they'll kick ass agianst just about everything. Throw in haste and invisiblity (on Fire elementals) and you've got an army!

After a lot of try i find this way.
Memorize Chaos spell used it on them. Beholder save but other three get confused and attack each other. Meanvile i send a cloudkiil and a deadfog to them. then Fighters and magic missiles finished them easly.

and to priest a silence spell make quiet easy
