Please, dear God, let someone give me a clue here.
I have figured out the sliding door thanks to this forum. I am now however faced with a new blonde-hair-pulling problem, I cannot find the place to push to open the secret room with the secret lever to the left of the pedestal room. I feel like a total idiot, as the only help I've needed through this entire game has been in the Ming Temple, and this one seems so....what's the word?....oh yeah...."DUH!!"
Can someone please turn on the lightbulb for me?
I'm not sure if this is the room you're thinking of. But at one point you need to use some hardcore Legend of Zelda skills. You need to push the statues around onto pressure switches. If that isn't the room you're stuck in then maybe you could describe the room in more detail.
To reach the lever from the first room, take the left hallway and then another left right away at the intersection. This will bring you into a room with a secret door on the left wall.
The "first room" is the room with the pedestals.
The tricky part is that no "use icon" or "open door icon" shows up when your examining the wall for the secret room. The door is about in the middle of the left wall as you enter and you'll have to push the E-button on your keyboard without there being an Icon. It can take some time to find the exact spot.

Aha! That pedestal room! Ok, I was thinking of another one...I never found that room in the labrynth area. I'm going to have to look for that when I get to that point in my newest game.
Oh, never knew of any secret rooms there. Anything interesting to be found there?
Well:after you get through the secret door there is a hallway to a door which requires 7 in lockpicking. Once through that door there are two important features:
- A lever that disactivates the traps in the corridors that lead to each of the jade statues.
- A slit in the wall that opens into one of the rooms with a jade statue (the Crane IIRC) through which you can shoot and kill the guards of that statue. And if you're a good shot, you can also kill the guards in the room further down the hallway (those that guard the jade Cat). But shooting activates the wandering guards with bows, which are a serious pain in the behind.

and I had been crawling under the traps all this time
To think I had been crawling under those traps all this time to get to the statues! I didn't ask a question but what a revelation! Thanks, I have to go find that stuff now. Makes me wonder what else I've missed.
