Nobody can say what's the perfect team, it's individual. Try to do a search before you post. There are a lot of topics related to this. But, as I said, it's individual and it depends on you. But if I were the one to jugde, I would say this team:

PC: Berserker
Edwin (best mage)
Jan (best thief)
Viconia (best cleric)
Haer'Dalis (offensive spin + longsword
wrakes havoc).
Jaheira (best lover) Image
I'll kick ass in BG2.

Haer'Dalis is a complete wimp, I would replace him with Korgan (best fighter).

My current (fourth) party:

My kensai/mage
Korgan (fighter)
Jaheira (druid/fighter)
Viconia (cleric)
Jan (thief/mage)
Edwin (mage)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

The ultimate team? Depends on what you want to do. To kill strong stuff, bring 6 mages, to kill minor stuff without resting, bring 6 fightertypes with clerics.

The best team is of course one that can do both, i only use my mages in the mayor battles while my 2 fighters kill all other stuff.

And to have 6 mages would be too much work, no fun at all. Even 3 mages is too much.

I use the same party that fable use, but my PC is a Berzerker/cleric (with str dex con at 19 with the tomes from BG1) so i got him and korgan with boots of speed clearing out every minor things, and getting help from others in mayors only.

Thief - PC
Keldorn - with carsomyr
Imoen - staff of magi
Jaheira - staff of Rynn
Anomen - with crom faeyr
Minsc - Vorpal sword

You will have great traps and backstabs. Two healers and one mage. Yet you'll also have 4 close range fighters, and 3 long range attackers.
Contrary to popular belief you only need one mage.

Haer'Dalis isn't a wimp if you haste him, use his offensive spin and dual wield his longswords. Image

Haer'dalis is an odd one. He really seems to me a jack of all trades, master of none. His spins are problematic because he's rooted in one spot. He can't really pickpocket, he's a poor scout, his identification skills are less than useful because of the magical eyeglasses. He can become very good with level-based spells, but only at a very high level; and even so, he doesn't rise on the mage lists like a true mage does.

I'm not saying he's bad, only that he's not optimal. His personality is fun, but I wish they'd given chosen another bard set for him--or perhaps added a few more unique instruments, besides the one or two that are available.

Better give Jaheira the Staff of the Woodlands, BTW, has anybody tried Cernd with this staff?

[QUOTE]

you forget tensers transfomation and stone skin. and fable he can pickpocket currently at 105 % in my party. Haer'Dalis is one of the best NPC's there is. he killed both dragons and has 21 % of the kills in my party (main character fighter/ilisionist has 62%)
