The ultimate sniper
The ultimate sniper
I was thinking about something very funny, a sniper that ALWAYS gets critical strike on every hit. Ok so here it goes.
I would recomend Sylvant or Demokin as race, they have good traits
This char does not need high int, since almost just use one skill: Ranged.
Charisma is totally useles, Endurance is not very important, and streght is only for carrying things.
Perception, Luck and Agility is what's important. Especially Luck, it will greatly affect the number of crits we'll get.
The Finesse Trait, and Arrows for Words trait are absolutely my choice. Finesse is broken.
Perks that are good to take:
More Crtiticals (very important, VERY!)
Increased Ranged Damage (Sweet)
Increased Ranged Attack Speed (or whatever it's called)
Sharpshooter
Sniper (The key to alwas getting crits)
If Luck, Per or Agility havn't been maxed, use the Gain Perks or similar stuff to increase.
Inquisitor is the way to go!
I think that with all this you should be able to get a crit chance of 50%!!!!
And with high Luck and the Sniper perk, you'll probably crit around 99% of the time!
Any thoughts, tips, hints?

Powergaming Lionheart?
I think when I managed to get my Perception attribute over 10, my critical chance leaped, I think I gained a 5-7 point bonus to it. There are also feats that further increase it.
Also I'd say take the 'Gain Attribute' perks first, say for Perception and then the other ones because I think those don't have the limit on them.

Um. I expect it will work quite well, Squee...
But I personally would not feel at all happy with such an unbalanced character.
But I agree that Perception and Agility are VERY important to any character; also Luck, but not so important, imo, for most chars.
But rubbishing Intelligence?!? Me - I like lots of skill points to spend!

yes yes ofcourse, i forgot about perception, it increases crit chance like a *****, but luck also increases crit chance, and it affects the Sniper Perk A LOT. You dont really need much defense, or any other source of offence because of the great strenght of ranged combat, maybe Divine:Fortitude just to be safe, i'd probably take it...

I wasn't going rubbish intelligence, I just won't raise it to insane levels, plus if you have 6 intelligence, get the Educated perk, Gain Intelligence perk, and Power from Beyond per you're gonna have skillpoint. The thing is, this guy almost only need one skill : Ranged, he doesn't need to spend his points elsewhere, exept for some 80 points in Divine:Fortitude, I think you should be able to get about 250-300 ín ranged fairy easy, and still be able to spend some points elsewhere, just to cover som minor weakneses.

I suspect you are being a bit optimistic. The Mastery of Fortitude Perk will help somewhat.

Just use that purple potion, the theivish one. My last char didn't spend a point in Lockpick/Find traps but with those sweet potions and a Belt of the Thief, i could easily find all the traps and unlock all the locks....

But did you find all the secret doors?
And you have to stand around for ages waiting for some traps to show.
And the potion only adds 25 points to Lockpick. You must have wasted a LOT of time, even with the Thief belt, saving before opening a lock, getting 'Failed, failed, failed, lock too complex' and having to reload and try again. And even so there will have been some you couldn't open, even with a high LUCK stat.
Been there. Done that.

Naaaa, not really. I didn't really care if I found all the hidden stuff or if I picked every lock, I've got better things to do. But I did find lots of traps/hidden doors and I could pick most of the lock, although not all of them, so I never considered it a problem....

Towards the end of the game, when you have a pretty good idea you will have little or no opportunity to sell stuff you find, I agree it doesn't matter.
I left loads of stuff just lying on the ground after checking to see if it was better than anything I already had.
But until then - and in the case of the final VERY nice bow in the last location, behind a secret door you need a good level FIND skill to spot - I checked everything out and found a whole lot of good, useful equipment that improved my char's defensive or offensive capabilities.
Some of those high-level-lockpick chests have good stuff. Sometimes they don't, though, which is annoying.
