@Hill, They've been showing the season for a month. Don't know about these 'specials'. I missed the first couple of episodes though, I didn't know they were showing it yet, so I'll just wait for the DVD's and watch it for the first time then.
I know a little about what happens in the first episode (I read about it) but not much else.

That is unfortunate. It is actually somewhat of a good series. this one has a lot more to do with the Ancients and the Orii... It gets very confusing at times. Don't worry, you basically learn all this within three seconds of the second or third one.

Good show. They replaced Jack and Sam. :( Using the Farscape guy now. The crazy lady who tried to highjack the Promethius in season 8 too.

Looks like they're turning Stargate into Farscape. Just wait for an Asgard puppet to become a regular recurring character. :D
Yeah, I saw something that O'Neill was being promoted out of the SGC. Didn't know Carter was out permanently as well though. :(
Ah well, if SG-1 goes down the pan, there's still Atlantis, that had a good first season. :)
And I just bought the box set for that. Just hoping I can get Region 1 DVD's working on my computer. :p

Anyway, someone else introduce a topic if they want. Or say something interesting. :p

Ooh, that's evil.
I can keep myself entertained though. I found a little spinning top and I'm the kind of person who just needs to mess around with something while listening or reading something. So it's perfect. As long as it doesn't get lost.
Random enough spam there? :D
Tag to you Fiona. ;)

Okay, to be fair and extend the spam, I'll ask a folk music related question. What's the part of this festival you're looking forward to the most?

I was trying to set up a link to a funny thing I found, but I can't get it to download. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

What is wrong with this board the last couple of days (or maybe it's my computer and that's why I can't get the other thing to work?)

The festival club is the best. It happens after the main shows and it goes on very late. You never know what will happen. The musicians choose to play, either after their own performance, or the night before sometimes. So you get a taster of people you have missed or perhaps have not heard before. Also many of the musicians get interested in each other's music and they will often guest for each other at the club, or form a band just for the evening to see what happens.

The next best bit is walking home at 4 am in the rain, of course

Hmm, GB does seem a little slow recently, but I wasn't sure if other websites were being slow as well.
Don't know why whatever link you're trying to post doesn't work. Is there anything special about it?

It's a little film but although it says it's downloading it just sits there. I'll have another go

A little film like the one in that Christmas lights thread? The same type of window surrounding the video I mean. If so, then it may seem to be doing nothing for a while while it is actually downloading what it needs to run.

Btw, that whole walking home in the rain at 4am does sound nice... ;)
Do you live close to these events?
Fiona

Post by Fiona »

Yes it might be that it just takes ages. But it's no fun if it does :(

BTW did you see the film Obi posted? Scary stuff !

I am very lucky. I live quite close to the centre of town. There are about 10 venues but none of them is more than 4 miles from home. So I can always walk.

That depends on how good the video is. And there's bound to be people who have DSL or whatever and can download it in a few seconds.

That's good. Always useful to have something convienient like that :)
The biggest events that happen here are probably fireworks extravangazas and the Airshow. They get a load of old planes (bombers etc.) in and the Red Arrows too and have their display every May I think.

The one in his signature? No, I haven't looked at it yet. What's it about?

I went to an airshow once. Mostly I'd rather watch paint dry, but I have to admit the vertical take off thing was impressive.

But, as I said before, I like fireworks. :D They have great fireworks display in Edinburgh every year. An orchestra plays Handel's fireworks music and the fireworks go off from the castle. Very good to see

Don't know if it's in his sig. The one he posted in the bird flu thread. Have a look.

Ravager you need to get out more. Nothing radical like out of the house ( I'm in no position to talk) but out of this thread :p

Ditto. Can't stand it myself. I've never watched it properly anyway. And now I've been through at least 7 times of it. The Red Arrows can be really noisy.
So, it's a pain even if you're not watching it.
Normally I miss the Sunday of it anyway, I just have to endure the following Bank Holiday Monday when they also fly. :p

That's the Military Tattoo thing?

LOL! I do. I just don't watch the video links much. And at the moment I'm playing some D&D so I can't really watch a video at the same time. Maybe tomorrow I'll have a look at it.

No the tattoo is much older and it's really tedious. This is a proper fireworks display but it's the setting and the music that make it special. Edinburgh castle really is worth a look. In fact the whole city centre is good. If you don't like folk you could try the Edinburgh festival. I try to get through for at least some of it every year as well. Bound to be something you like there, and it's in the summer so university should be shut.

I'm going to bed now, Rav. We'll get your 10000 tomorrow if we can :)

Heh, you really think I should visit Scotland, don't you? :D ;)
This is where I persuade you to visit the charms of South East England.
I've seen a few good castles, I used to really like them. Colchester, Windsor, Warwick and Bodiam (when I was really young), Hadleigh (close to where I live, but not much there, standing stones pretty much) and Hastings, AFAIK.

Have a good sleep Fiona. :)

What? I'm playing D&D with Americans. That requires me to be still be around. :p
Our 'guest' hasn't turned up at all this evening. Though to be honest I'm more curious what happened to Lasher, he hasn't been around in a while now.
Who will dig up random picture links for us if he stays away? :( :p

Well, I guess I am going to have to be on tommorrow to see the miracle. :D

D&D with Americans? The Shar campaign, or is that another one?

Yes, Lasher has not been on in some time. Oh well, not everyone stays around, but I am sure he will come back eventually. :)

The ten thousand posts? :D
I wonder if anything special happens? *cough* hint *cough* ;)

It's the Bloodlines one, the Shar campaign hasn't started yet, though I get the feeling that might be half as complicated as the Sterwick campaign with that many people involved. :p
Currently we're up against at least 2 ogres and maybe a drow and I'm at -5 HP, so it's going well. :D

Hope he does...

LMAO. I am not starting a new thread for your ten thousand, but will send you two fine ladies carrying a dozen cases of beer and whisky, from Canada. :)

Ah, I see. Fun, so far? The game far along? I haven't been keeping up with the different campaigns lately...

Sorry, Rav, I'll try to get on tommorrow, or in maybe 2 hours, if the bloodlines campaign runs that long. :)
