Well, game o' the year edition comes with the two expansions (which I believe you are already familiar with), and original does not. Another major difference is that it's ALOT cheaper to buy the game of the year edition instead of the normal one then the two expansions (saved me about 40$)
As for which expansion is better...... It's really up to you. They're different from eachother (make no mistake), but I would say that since they're about equally good, it's really a matter of preference. I myself prefered Tribunal, because it went into more detail about all that prophecy junk you keep hearing about it the original game, but not enough info to be a spoiler if you play it before the Morrowind main quest. Also, the High Ordinators presented me with guards which were actually worth training on :mischief:

I'd definitely go with the GOTY just to save yourself money and time (there really is no reason to buy the game and expansions separately with GOTY around). As for the expansions, I enjoyed Tribunal more because it seemingly fits in better with the storyline of Morrowind. They're both solid though (and you get both with GOTY
).

Well yeah you can when you go off and explore the area added by the Bloodmoon expansion, solstheim (the island where you were a prisoner). Good? Ummm, I guess. It's kinda cool, I'll admit...
..... the area added by the Bloodmoon expansion, solstheim (the island where you were a prisoner)
Oh, is that Solsthem's significance to the story? I always thought it was just a random and fairly cold island. Besides, Azura said "they have taken you from the imperial city's prison, by carrige, and now by boat, to the east (Not south, thank you very much), to Morrowind....."

Spoilers
I prefer Solstheim (i.e. bloodmoon) - 3 reasons
1) Raven Rock (build a settlement, choose good/bad path)
2) Lycanthropy (Grrr - I turned into a wolf, now watch me eat your face...)
3) Main quest - choose good or bad paths - not linear main quest like in Morrowind and to a lesser extent tribunal (Yes you CAN do the quests in different orders and whenever you like, but I want to be BAD).
However, a chance to use Azuras Star without 'breaking' the main quest is pretty nifty (Tribunal). I really like Mournhold though... the side quests are excellent. Solstheim is rather boring away from the 4 villages/forts.
