Silver swords?

Post by Ferret »

Is there more than 1 silver sword inBG2 SoA?. Ive just had 1 made. I was minding my own manners and was ambushed by more Githanki dudes with another sword hilt. is this just a small bug in the prog?

I think so. I've had that happen as well, but I've never been able to find another blade.

Yep. As long as you have the Silver Sword in your possession, you will get random parties of them that attack you (if I remember correctly). But in my opinion, well worth it, I REALLY liked that weapon.

Hmm NO parties ever attacked me when I had it. Mind you, I did move to Suldanesselar pretty quickly

I think the parties only appear in Athkatla, but I know the first time I played I had an extra hilt at the end of the game as well. It definitely could be a bug.

If you wanted another Silver Sword you could always CLUA one in if you're not averse to cheating. :)

I think the item code is sw2h15.

Technically speaking, the weapon isn't unique in the source material, though it is kind of weird the gythyanki'd send parties after you armed with only the hilt (gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "armed to the hilt" ) instead of the entire sword.

I always wondered that too. This whole race only has one of those blades but multiple hilts?

It's like grandpa's old axe. You've replace the head 3 times and the handle 7 but it's still grandpa's old axe. Obviously the blade has broken many times while the hilt has only broken a few, so they're short on blades and long on hilts.

I have 2 blades

My most recent party has 2 blades. How I did it was have my PC (swashbuckler/mage) pickpocket Saemon Haevar before talking to him about transportation back to Athkatla. I was considering doing the portal option and still wanted the blade for later. Well I ended up deciding to go the sea route anyway (a lot of good experience in Sahaugin City I hated to miss) and lo and behold Saemon gives me the blade "again", so I have 2 blades. I now will need 2 hilts. Wouldn't mind having 2 of this sword. In my first run through I completed and gave the sword to Minsc. It is unbelievably devastating!! He was even "killing" golems in Suldanessarill with it! Funny watching the "spirit" rise up from a golem :-) If the sword is supposedly the "holy" artifact the Githyanki claim it to be, it is odd that there would be multiple hilts or blades for that matter.

Yeah, I used that sword for quite a long time in the game. Even after I had acquired "better" swords, I still broke it out every so often. I actually killed Firrkrag (sp?) with one hit with the Silver Sword. It was kind of disappointing in a way, because I was so excited to square off with a red dragon and then with one swing it was all over. One Two Combo

My Paladin PC has Carsomyr and Minsc has the Silver Sword. That's been a devastating 1-2 combo. Just started ToB with that party. Surprised you waited till after you returned from Spellhold and all to take out Firkraag. It's sure nice having Carsomyr in the Underdark. Hope my most recent SoA party gets attacked by a couple of Githyanki parties. Would be interesting (maybe) to have a pair of them.

Yeah, it was the first time I went through the game and I never get any hints until after I've been all the way through at least once. That was one of the first few quests I did and took the "You can take the girl and I'll let you leave this time" option. I wasn't very high level at that point and figured the game must be trying to save me from a butt kicking. Little did I know I wouldn't be back there for a LONG time. Plus I didn't have a Paladin in my party on the first go through anyway.
