Jaheira Romance ANSWERS!!!!! *SPOILERS GALORE!!!!*
Hey guys, I need a little help. I'm sick of waiting for Jaheira to make the moves on me. I just checked my Lovetalk rating which seems to be stuck at 40. I can't get Dermin to appear for the FIRST time! I followed all previous advice and everything was going fine. (Reviane appeared with her warning, etc. I have completed all quests.) Just waiting to go kill Bodhi. I heard that the romance doesn't progress after you kill her so I have wasted time trying to get Dermin to appear. Is that the proper way to proceed?
Also, what is this "reverse vampirism" quest that someone mentioned? I haven't done it yet. Is that why I'm stuck?
I checked checked my "Romance active variable" which seems to be set at 1, does that mean that I'm screwed for the Jaheira romance. Is there ANY way to salvage it? Or do I have to start changing the Lovetalk values? Please, any help or guidance is appreciated.

Bodhi will only initiate the reverse vampirism quest if your romance variable is 2(or 3 for those who have completed the whole romance) and not 1

I need to know several things:
1)What chapter are you in?
2)What area are you in?
3)What is the value of the global DerminSpawn?
4)Did you get the dialog "There is an ill wind in the air. Do you feel it? I feel a storm inside, in the distance."

There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

First let me bow down and give respect to Manveru for the excellent writeup which pointed me in this direction.
Ok, enough of that, I'll get a reputation. This is for anyone who is still having trouble with Jaheria's romance stalling at Lovetalk 27 and no bandits in sight. If Manveru's suggestions don't work (or like me, you're way too f***ing far into the game to go back to chapter 2), then give your savegame one more looksee with shadowkeeper. Look for a Global Variable called "JAHEIRABANDITPLOT". Chances are it's not there.
Add JAHEIRABANDITPLOT and give it a value of 1, then save it like usual. Then when you load the savegame, immediately head to an outdoors area and take a nap once you're there. You'll wake up with bandits around you, and as far as I can tell that should get the rest of the storyline back on track.
From what I've determined, somewhere during Chapter 2-3 and the quests in Umar Hills (I am playing a ranger) that variable vanished. Once I figure out if this completely fixes this problem I'll go back and check all my 20 billion archived savegames and see if I can find exactly when it vanishes.
Oh, and if anyone else figured this out and posted before me, sorry bout repeating, cause I obviously missed it!

Thank you to all the experts who helped me out. It seems that Mr. Clark and I are having the same problems. However, my Lovetalk rating is now 41, yes 41. I am now waiting for Dermin's second appearance. I paused the game overnight and got the "Ill wind.." dialogue. Now what do I do until Dermin re-apears for the second time? More of the same, put on pause and come back? I want to try it this way before I start downloading Manveru's patches. By the way, Manveru, I bow to you also. One hell of a "jaheira Romance Guide" you created. And to whoever said that this thread was becoming "legendary", you are 100% correct. LOL
Manveru: I ask you this since you are the expert. I had a lovetalk rating under 50, (i.e. around 47-49, don't remember) when I was visited by Dermin for the SECOND time. Is this a new variation or is my game more screwed up than everyone else's? Currently, my rating is 51, and if I sleep outdoors Dermin appears for his THIRD visit. Any thoughts as to this? What I'm doing is forcing dialogues trying to beef up the lovetalk rating as close to the magical "# 55" as possible. That is the "ideal" number to have before the THIRD encounter, isn't it?
Firstly just go outside the city and rest your party 2-3 times. If it doesn't help then :Originally posted by Mr. Clark:
I've read a bunch of things about the "Dawning of our day" bug, but I'm still confused. The lovetalk was at 55 and then she did the "D. of our D." thing which changed it to 56. Dermin has not come for the third time yet. Is this a problem?
Have you got savegame before "D.of our Day " ?
If so then install newest Baldurdash patch and play normal game - everything should work ok.
If you have killed dermin earlier (before dawning our day) then he will not appear of course.
If you haven't such a savegame then try CLUAConsole commands from my patch's readme (there is the section about Dermin) - you could find my patch on my page - www.worldzone.net/games/manveru
or download baldurdash patch (there are also the same cluaconsole codes in readme file)

I assume that you are playing without newest baldurdash patch : install this patch.Originally posted by D-Man:

It corrects all problems with dermin.
Because you said that you are forcing dialogues then you probably have savegame before second meeting with dermin - load it and play normal game (after installing baldurdash patch)
If you haven't got such a savegame (and you've killed dermin) then change Lovetalk to 59 - it should allow you to finish romance.

Manveru, thanks a million for all your help. I am installing your (and Kevin's) patch. I'm assuming that one patch is ALL I need. One question for future reference though: Will this patch affect the game when I install Throne of Bhaal? I was curious because of the warning about it when you install the Baldurdash patch. Do I need to delete the patch before installing Throne of Bhaal when it comes out?
The short answer to this is to set "Debug mode=1" under your program options in baldur.ini, then after you restart the game, do ctrl-space to bring up the console command line.Originally posted by Avariel:
Just a small question here.
Grimbold the Unlovely asked where you type in all that CLUA stuff, and frankly, I would also like to know, so if one of you CLUA game wizards would please take pity on me and tell me what program to download or just where I need to type my CLUA commands, I would be most appreciative.
***SNIP***
So, where do I type in my CLUA stuff?
Thank you very much.

If, however, you are looking for an easier and more informative way to make these changes without having to worry about writing down or remembering the command lines, go to http://www.mud-master.com/shadowkeeper/ and download shadowkeeper version 2. It's almost 300k, not alot, and it's free. In addition to being able to make one keystroke changes on any of your global variables, you can also view (or change) a bunch of information on your characters. Check out the website for yourself.
I'm a command line afficionado myself, but this program is just plain faster to use.
