Importing characters

Post by busterj »

Can someone please explain to me in detail how to import characters from BGI or ToSC in to BGII. I have read the readme files and I still don't understand. I don't know where the 'root' files are or how to get there. This would be a tremendous help. Thanks a ton in advance!

More than likely, when you exported your character out of BG1 it was saved in the /characters directory under whatever folder you installed BG1 to (the folder where you installed the game is the root directory). You need to copy your character file from the /characters folder in your BG1 directory to the /characters folder in your BG2 directory, then you should be all set.

In which game? BGI or BGII? How do I get to the root directory?

I can't tell you how to get to the root directory, because I don't know where you installed BG1 OR BG2. The default, I believe, is C:\Program Files\Baldur's Gate for BG1 and C:\Program Files\BGII - SoA for BG2. Try looking there first, otherwise, search your hard drive for baldur.exe.

OK. I think I understand now. Thanks! It would help if I was a little more computer literate.
