Unique katana?
Unique katana?
Where can I find the unique katana? The equipment database says that it is in the hollowbrook hotel but i couldn't find it there. Maybe I missed somewhere?
if i remember correctly it's in one of the rooms near the beginning of your assault on the hotel. just be sure to check every room from top to bottom after dispatching the baddies. i wish i could be of more help than that, but i can indeed verify that it's in there. it has a speed bonus on it, so it's pretty nice, totally worth combing the area for.

I found it in a room near the entrance to the hotel... Lemme try and spell it out for you
, be patient with me. You enter into a room that has three areas in it, one directly in front of you with a vamp and one around the corner to your right. You leave this entrance by going forward out of the room and to your right. This area is a long narrow hallway with numerous rooms along the sides of it and tons of vamps, as you come to the hallway there's an open area directly in front of you with 2-4 vamps in it. Just say all the vamps in the immediate area are dispatched, I found the blade a little ways down the hallway in a room to your left. The trick is, you don't see the room (it's just a wall) until a vamps knocks the wall down and emerges from it to attack you (surprise!:speech: ). If you kill that vamp and enter the room the blade should be right in front of you, leaning up against the wall at the back. This is where I think it was, but it may be in one of the rooms right around it (i think I'm right though): what I'm sure of is that it's in one of the rooms to your LEFT as you go down the hallway and I found it up against a wall.
Sorry if this was a little hard to read, but it's hard to explain even though I know almost precisely where I'm talking about (makes sense in my head I mean
).
Good luck
, I hope it helps (and that the blade isn't placed at random :speech: ).

Thanx for trying to help, but...
There is no vamp ripping up no wall. However the first door on the left in the hallway is torn apart by some nasty looking dude as he attacks, and directly after that there is a hole in the wall to the left to another room. Though I can't find the blade in neither of those rooms. Sorry.

Hmmmm... If I recall there were two instances in which a dude jumps out, the one I indicated happens further down the hallway after that first dude jumps out... I'm sorry
I don't know what to tell you, as I'm 100% sure it's in that hallway in a room on your left that I found the blade. Maybe just keep searching that area up and down, or if you have some extra skill points (I always kept 10-15 around in case) save your game, jack up your perception skill and look around on that level for it. Once you find it, you can load the save, you'll know where the blade is and then you can get it w/o using the points.
Sorry again, keep trying and I'm sure it's there somewhere; I hope it isn't a bug and I'm leading you on a wild goosechase
.
(If it helps at all, I never found the special katana too much better than the normal one. It doesn't look any different and has similar stats, it may not be worth all the effort you're investing in its search.)

If 1.8 Unofficial ...
I only finished the game with the Unofficial patch so I only know that location for sure. If you are using it talk to Yukie in China Town. She is in noodle shop (across the road from the White Powder ? Can't remeber the name of the shop but is the medicine shop with the guy that wants you to collect some eyes for him ... ).

I can't tell you precisely where the Tal'mahe'Ra blade is, but I can tell you this:
On the top floor, there is a long hallway just before you leave the floor. It is guarded by about 6 Sabbat Gangrel armed with automatic weapons and shotguns. In that hallway, you will find a flamethrower. That hallway also contains the Tal'mahe'Ra blade. It is not in the same room as the flame-thrower. It is farther on, but it is in a room on the left side of the hall standing against the far wall from the doorway. It is hard to see because it is thinner than a katana. If memory serves, there are about 6 Glock clips right next to it. If you have trouble finding it, I suggest cleaning the floor and then going through that hall, room-by-room, sweeping the walls. You're bound to find it.
Use the standard algorithm for running a simply-connected maze: Wherever you are, assume that the wall on your left is attached to your left hand. Assuming that your hand is attached to the wall, simply keep walking with your hand attached to the wall until you reach the end. Obviously, if you reach a spot that will require you to leave the floor, momentarily detach your hand from the wall to get past it. If you reach a dead-end, leave your hand attached to the wall, turn around and proceed. Using this method, though tedious, will guarantee that you will eventually find the sword.

If you do not use the unofficial patch, I'll try to explain it. As Tony says it isn't easy to do it.
It is on the first floor, which basically consists of two intersecting hallways.
Your main objective here is getting from one end of a hallway, let's call it the main hallway, to the other end of that same hallway (where you turn to the left to bump into a troll).
The intersecting hallway is only there to have more people able to shoot at you. And to help you orientate, or get disoriented.
Now the T-blade is in the first or second room left in the main hallway after the intersection.
BTW: the flamethrower is in the last room left in the main hallway before the intersection
If you have an unofficial patch, you need to look up the readme file of that patch. I know that the latest patches put the T-blade with Yuki in Chinatown, but earlier ones could have put it elsewhere (with Chastity in Hollywood?).

move the T-blade around.
it starts off at Hallowbrook though.
the easiest way to describe where it is is working back from the exit hole - you go past the brazier and turn right - along then right again - long corridor where you first have the guy with the repeater rifle shooting at you from behind cover. - at the corner where he stands turn right and along there. on the right are some side rooms. the T-blade and a flame-thrower are in those side rooms before you get to the end where there is a brazier, a barricade and a blood doll.
