Dropped Keys

Post by Milo Par »

Don't know if there's a bug or not. I dropped two keys prior to going down to the prison level. When I came back up, they were gone. Are they gone for good?

Also, what is the easiest way to defeat the Spectre in the prison level.

That part of the level must have atualized... dont you have a savegame prior to that? I guess it'd be the best way to recover the keys.

The spectre requires:

Luck
Magical weapons with powers against the undead
Loads of defensive spells
If possible, all your mage spells used as atack spells (magic missile, fireball)
Keep your cleric ready to heal and raise level of your troops (if he can do that via wand or spell)
Use the potions you have.

Simple huh? He's a bit overpowered for that specific level, I think, so you have to overpower your units too. But you'll always need a bit of luck.
Flesh to stone ain't permanent, it seems.

Almost hate to say it but I only use one save game and I did that prior to fighting the Spectre. The Autosave brings me to the point when I first enter the prison cells. I only had two keys but one was the Ancient Dwarven Chest key. My rogue isn't high enough level to pick the lock...if he ever will. The other key, I can't really remember the actual name. It was some sort of crude key fashioned out of ???? Don't know what that's too.

In this game, in most cases, by right clicking on a chest, you have the option of smashing the chest-- that MAY help you get past the lost keys problem...
It's better to to take your chances and live life, than to look back later and wish you had.

It appears that the only hope I have now is that my rogue, someday, picks the lock. I don't have the option of smashing the chest.

I'm pretty sure that -in both this game and in ToEE, if the chest has a key, you AIN'T picking it, no matter how good your Rogue is. That is very unfortunate, and aggravating, I know--

You may have to go back to an earlier save-- it may seem like you are losing a lot of playtime, but in the Grand, GRAND scheme of this game, a few hours playtime in the early level is really a tiny drop in the bucket.

Good luck :)
