Fellas, I think you'll find that you won't *find* a female gamer, you usually have to go out and make one yourself. Well, sort of...My fiance got me hooked on BG. He and I seem to be opposites of Raven and Co. My guy goes for the hack and slash, while I use spells, stealth, strategy, and what he calls 'sneaky tricks' to whoop his hiney.

Just keep telling yourself that Kiddo. Image. And going out and turning women to the dark side, uh, making them into gamers is an interesting process. Fun, but unless you're prepared it could yield unpredictable results Image.

You're in trouble if she starts trying to cast Detect Invisibility.

I believe Raksha is right. I actually talk my girlfriend into playing Diablo2 with me. Since then, she's been doing dungeon crawl with me. She sits by me when I play BG2 and she really wants to try, but the massive english text of BG2 is too much for her (she's now waiting for the version of my language to come out).

She also go out and plays arcade video games with me, like time crisis or that sort of the game.

Hey, I'm kinda new to this thing, but I just wanted to give a big heads up-- _I'm_ a female gamer, and I can't get enough of Baldur's Gate I & II! Sadly, II was over a little too soon, and was decidedly without Xan, which upset me--I really liked him. Though Haer'Dalis was a nice character, too. They both make me laugh.

I'm not so sure about the creating female players stuff. I am one myself. If I was created, then I would have to say either my half brother or younger brother should have created me... Don't think so buster... I like RPG cause they're like interactive movies or books. Don't buy them myself tough. My little brother does that for me. (isn't that cheap) I just keep nagging about a game he wants to buy himself anyway and voila, whaddayaknow three days later I am playing BG2 (or Monkey Island 4). I Liked the FinalFantasy series too, guess who bought them?

Have any of you guys thought of playing all female characters. It would be interesting because you'd have many spell casters, a few thieves, and of coarse, Mazzy. I don't know, was just thinking that'd cool, though would have to adapt your gaming type to compensate for lack of certain high level skills.

I have been playing a female character since my 1st P&P RPG. In my RPG group there have always been women (players, not just characters) but so far, the one woman I want to get to play (my wife) still doesn't play... All suggestions to get her to start playing are wellcome :-)

But to get one thing straight....: My Markswoman, a ranger from the Old World(I play Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying) is the best shot south of Middenheim - not òne of the men in my party will try to challenge that - not even from a distance using smoke signals. Pfff, mietjes (that's Dutch)

I used to play tabletop D&D back in the day. I had a male elf ranger that got turned into a female elf ranger with really good charisma. You really gotta watch your wording on those wish spells. Does that count Eternal?

Drinn my advice to you..(though I'm not sure why I'm giving it with my success rate in this area)..is to start her on adventure games. If she reads and she gives them a chance, she should like em. Stuff like Grim Fandango, Phantasmogoria. Then you can "graduate" her into rpg. Good luck.

Ooooh, toughie, Drinn... getting a wife to play. We still haven't converted the wife of one of my players, although she did show brief interest in Feng Shui (a fine pen-and-paper from Atlas Games). Seems like the harder one tries to deliberately convert a potential female player, the harder the female in question resists.

It probably wouldn't be wise to try to actively 'recruit' her. If she shows an interest, encourage it, but you'll probably have more peace in your household if you just left things as they are.

BTW, I have some rather fond memories of an albino Druidic Priest I ran in WFRP, as well as an outlaw and a ratcatcher. Pretty cool game! Just a quote I remember from the ratcatcher:

Lecherous Doctor: Where have you been all my life?

My Ratcatcher: In the sewer.

Those were the days... the ratcatcher eventually became an official of some sort in Altdorf...

Smooth talking guys in to buying stuff for me? Works with daddy all the time, just like with my bro. Am I spoiled or what. (don't answer that)
Anyway, I'm not trying to impress anybody or anything. But with certain bodyparts, which I happen to posses, you don't need to talk to get lots and lots of free drinks on your saturday nights.
About the female character... Yeah, I started out as a female priest of Lathander but got bored of it. Then I became a female fighter thief and last week I finally kicked Irenicus' butt. (was a disappointment really, none of my partymembers even got seriously damaged)
So now I'm starting over as a male Bard. I think the romances could have been distrubuted a bit differently in the game. 3 for men, 1 for women. Tss. As I said I like RPG for being like books. The NPC confersations are most interesting to me.
I don't think I'll get that far this time tough, I can't get through the first dungeon, I'm bored to death.

I usually play a drow female swashbuckler (Where I got the name Kik'th--That's her. There's a story...), but once in a while I like to play a male elf thief, bard or ranger, cause it's nice to play pretend sometimes. Image

If you're willing to share your story you really should visit the "How did you come up with that?" topic. And I'm not just saying that 'cause it's mine.
