Could not complete shadow of ruins because I was not strong enough.
Left and did the other Temples and returned. Got in just by luck because I had a shadow crystal but the game was hopelesssly muddled at this point and launched a saved game coming back out at Talendor. But the altar in vale of ruins refuses to take the blood the second time around so that the banshee will show up and give me the password.
My choices appear to be 1) wait for new patch and see if that will fix things, 2) start a new game and take the chance that resets everything (would hate to get there and the altar still refuses to respond or 3) hope that you can suggest a solution

Stuck at the Altar in Vale of Ruins
The only time I've heard of this happening a player had gone to the unholy arc in the vale before going to Vartaugg and reporting in that he had gotten the blood from Valdane. So in other words after getting the blood from Valdane you have to go see Vartaugg because your conversation with him triggers the unholy arc to work.
