Demi Lich is there any mercy>?

Post by shepherd78 »

in the docks district I put the lich together and killed it then the demi lich pops and then all my little party members are teleported to mickeys fun house and the game ends....

Is there a way to beat this guy?

I've tried the obviouse: getting a bunch of skeletons and haveing them gate them away and have my beasty paladin jacked to the brim on every potion attack the demi butt monger' however my fellow gamers to no avail.... any help would be greatly ...well it would be great

or... is there a limit to how many times he can gate people away?

there's a whole section on this site on strategies to beat kangaxx.
i prefer havign my sorcerer summon mordenkain's swords to do all of my dirty work. and if you have a berserker, just use your enrage ability and he'll be immune to imprisonment.
I would be a serial killer if i didn't have such a strong distaste for manual labor

According to shadowkeeper, Kangaxx can cast Imprisonment up to 8 times.
I saved Suldanesellar from destruction, and all I got was this stupid amulet.

Heres what I did...

Before I assembled Kangaxx, I had Yoshimo and my PC (Assasin) lay as many traps where he would spawn. By doing so, I killed him in his lich form before he did anything. Easy.

His Demi-lich form was a little bit different. As I had usd all my available traps against the lich form, I resorted to violence. I maade sure Edwin had a sequencer with two pierce magic, and one breach. Keldorn had Carsomyr, I had short Sword of Mask +4 (I have ToB installed)and a ring of ram, and Yoshi had Celestial Fury. Once he began to transform, I waited for him to finish. Once he did, I nailed him with the ring (Anywhere between 10-30 damage, hurt him a lot, as he only has about 60-70). I also nailed him with the sequencer, to knock out any spell protections, and then knocked him on the head with Edwin's staff of Magi, CF, SSoM, and The holier-than-thou-sword-of-ass-kicking. To hit him in his Demi-lich form, you need +4 weapons or bettar, thus Korgan and Jaheira were useless. After a round of combat, and no imprisonments, Kangaxx was dead, and the most powerful ring was mine.

yeah.. i remember having the same problem as you with the demi-lich. Basically, I was advised to cast a Protection from Magic ONTO the demi lich.. and it was smooth sailing from there (ie. just hack him to death! hehe).

Scroll of protection from magic and a +4 or greater weapon (staff of rhynn for example), you can't loose.

I actually meant scroll of protection from undead but either one is fine, I prefer the PfU because it doesn't mess with my haste.

Bah he can cast imprisonment about 500 times not 8 like SK says. But he is also very easy. Too many ways to beat. Prot from undead, prot from magic, enrage, ring of ram+trap concentration.

Absolutely! If you only have one character attack, in my case because you only have one +4 weapon, you only do 2 points of damage per round no matter what your bonuses are (I don't know why, but I noticed the same thing with a demon in Watcher's Keep). Kangaxx regenerates 2 points per round, so the battle never ends. He cast inprisonment and other game-ending spells every single round!

All of the above advice is good, you shouldn't have a problem.

Heh, that's good bit of mis-information, that. ;)

He has 8 copies of Imprisonment memorized, but he never uses them. Instead, his script has him cast "Trap the Soul" (the Demi-Lich version of Imprisonment, which works at range). This is not regular spellcasting, but the use of a special ability. There's no limit to it and it cannot be disrupted.

DOH! Hey, I was sort of right. He can cast Imprisonment 8 times, but Imprisonment isn't the spell he uses. :o :D

But wait a sec, there really is mercy where the Demi-Lich is concerned... Regular Imprisonment ignores magic resistance.
