Visit a temple and pay for their resurrection

Have a high enough level cleric (or druid) and have them cast raise dead or resurrection

Cast the spell from a scroll - which can be purchased at various locations

Simplest option: Reload a previous game

He never specified that they needed to be resurrected, or just be raised. If he later, I believe you find a Raise Dead rod at some pont in the early game.

whats the difference between raising someone and resurrecting them? i thought it was just that raise dead only gives 1 hit point where as resurrection heals them fully.

+ When you die you lose/'forget' all memorized spells aswell right? Resurrecting them restores those memorized spells (If I recall correctly).

Or is that only Greater Restoration? :/

PnP vs BG2...

In pnp, there are many differences between resurrection and raising. Raising is simply a return to the state before death... at 1-hp/poisoned/lvl-drained/diseased/etc...

Resurrection is a complete "restoration".

In BGII, the hp is the only difference...

Well that's as thorough as it comes.

But yeah, but I'm not sure whether both give back all spells as memorized, or only the ones you had not cast. If it's the former, it opens up another cheese for those that have not yet gained wish...

This deserves a looking into.

Jaheria can, if you get her to memorise the spell and she is has a high enough level (which occurs rather early in the game) she can bring the dead back to life.

She can do both resurrection and raising. If she's the dead one or not in your party... use the temple.

That can also happen as a result of Petrification and Imprisonment effects (among other things). Those need Stone to Flesh and Freedom spells respectively to restore the character to life.
Sometimes if the Gore option is on monsters AND characters can 'explode' on death. I think when this happens the character can disappear from the sidebar.

In addition to the methods described above, there are a couple of Rods of Resurrection in the game. Any character can use those and they can be found/bought early on.

Harpers' Call

Jaheira can call party members back - which is handy. I have her with 2 HCs memorised at present as Yoshimo and Aerie seem to fall down dead as soon as Minsc shouts "Boo!"

they come back rather weak and it takes a lot out of Jaheira too. as i use her as a 3rd fighter behind my PC (ranger) and Minsc (another ranger), she can get blown away herself, so it is a good idea to keep a scroll for another cleric to use, if you cannot afford the rod, which I can't.

they come back with the same spell-state as they perished with HC - none lost, but used ones still used. I sometimes give them the Ring of Regen so that whilst they fuss about getting kitted up, they are recovering hit-points.

so scroll in case of emergencies and Jaheira with 2 HCs and the party can be back on its feet in no time.

(darned Umber Hulks! - forgot where to get the ingredients for the stew)

With two exceptions.

1) Unless they were getting extra spells from a worn item, and there are several like that in the game. In that case, once you put back on the item, the spell slots will be empty. You'll have to rechoose spells for them to learn, then let 'em sleep.

2) If they died in an undead attack that caused loss of levels. I *hate* the way the game doesn't track memorized spells, so that when you restore their levels (which is part of raising them from the dead), those spell slots will be blank. You'll have to choose them, again.

SPOILERS!!

To get a rod of resurrection, go to Mekrath's layer in the sewer and it is in the room that Mekrath is. Also one can be bought from Ribald (I would suggest the one at Mekrath's place). The rod has a set amount of charges so be careful of your consumption of it.

As with all rods, it can be sold back to a merchant then bought back filled, correct? I haven't tested it with this specific rod.

Also, you can always do the cheesy thing and sell the rod, then steal it back after gifitng your thief with a potion or two of master thievery. But that way lies madness. ;)

Yes it will recharge. I try not to steal it back as one thing leads to another and I end up making bunches of easy, cheesy cash.
