ETA is approximalty within 3 months of the German version, which will be the initial release of the game.
I dont recall which interview I read that in but came up in responce to how poorly jowood handled Gothic 2 and NotR distributions.
Trust me, most of the names I have been called you can't translate in any language...they're not even real words as much as a succession of violent images.

I read in PC Gamer about 6 months ago that they had no intention of releasing Gothic III in an English version - German only. If thats true it is a sad situation because Gothic II with all its clunkiness was one of the best RPG's to come out in a long time, up there with Wizardry VIII and Morrowind in my oponion.

I wouldn't bet one way or the other on it. PC Gamer has been seriously wrong with its information too many times to count, especially since their sources are usually developers or publishers long before games are released. And I admit to finding it extremely unlikely that a big new RPG title would hit the German market without being made in English for the largest RPG market in the world. Just my POV.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Thats completly false if PC gamer said that, JoWood and PB have specifily said there IS a English version right after the inital German release, this is COMMON knowledge :)

I don't think there is really an *official date* yet, but it is meant to be Q1'06 from what I've been reading ... the German and English versions only a couple of weeks apart.

Release date - for the English version best current estimate looks like May 2006 is planned but will probably be later

Language - There will definitely be an English version, making this version will cost them only around 5%to 10% of the total budget, yet it will sell alot more than the German version alone.

Distribution - I feel it is unfair criticising Jowood or Piranha for the distribution, they use other companies for this (although I cannot recall who it is) and it is those other companies who have put no effort into selling the G2 expansion. This is a big shame for many and I have had to buy the German version and have got details off other forum's about how to install it (it is possible with quite a bit of effort) - but I'm not looking forward to it.

If there is a similar situation in the future you can always contact me. I will translate everything you need from German into english (Maybe not perfectly but so that you can understand it)
Just contact me via PM or email!
Aaah sometimes, you know, it's good to be German, because we get G3 sooner! ;-P

Best wishes

Well, IGN does have a pretty good subpage dedicated to it... so it would be worthwhile to check it out.

I am wrestling with the idea of making an info thread. I am not sure if I should or should not.

I heard the release date for Germany was supposed to be Q4 2005.. but I guess my hopes were up too high. I've been waiting for this game ever since I learned that they were creating it right back before Die Nacht Des Raben was released.. (which I now have, ordered from germany, and translated by the great G2aTT.. I love that game :D

Well, some more news on Gothic III, everyone.

Well, I should learn German, considering the time it is taking to make the English version of the game.
