Bloodshield

Post by Wrath »

When playing a Tremere, I've reached the 3rd level of Thaumaturgy, which is the Bloodshield. It's hella useful, but I can't understant one thing: it says in the BS's description the shield will dissipate as soon as he absorved all the damage he 'could'. But it doesn't really dissipates... I mean that if activate the BS, my character will get red and the damage will be reduced, but even when it absorved all the damage I'm still red and I take damage normally (by this time the BS should be gone). Is that normal? I'm asking this because it made me violate the Masquerade once....

That was perhaps poorly stated. The Blood Shield will continue to absorb damage until it has absorbed as much as it is able, and then it will dissipate. If the fight is over and it still hasn't absorbed enough damage, it will stay on, and you have to turn it off manually with F8. This makes it very handy for some places were there are multiple enemies spread out, because once on it will stay on until it wears out, but if your fight is well and truly over, be careful to turn it off before you wander out in the world bright red and dripping blood.

Oh sorry, I think I wasn't clear enought. I meant before that I can activate the shield with my life full, take damage until die, and shield will remain still! Dunno why it doesn't turn off even takin' all damage possible (note that my character will remain red, but no damage will be absorved anymore). It's weird, and it still violating the Masquerade...

but anyway, as I've learned how to disable the active disciplines, my problem is gone :D

thx for the help anyway :)

the bloodshield does not stop all damage, just reduces the damage you take from each hit. you still get damaged while it is activated

In my opinion this is tremere with their blood magic are the best clan in this game - in thaumaturgy you have powerfull battle spells like blood purge or blood boil, not to mention that if you will keep your mounth shut about max secret, you will receive artifact that boost thaumaturgy power.

The blood shield duration is limitet not by time but the amount of damage it can take. If id doesn't wear off it means that it didn't take enough damage or you have another stupid bug
